i have a slann without a base what can i do??? bought it online, it has a floaty chair but no base for it, ive found a (slightly damaged/ melted) old kroxigor base, could i mount it on that somehow?
You have a few options. You could buy a monstrous base. Ask you local gaming club (ask around the local GW even) to see if anyone has a spare monster base. You could make your own using plasticard. You could also sculpt one with green stuff (or clay). The kroxigor base will work (one of my slann had a 40mm base when I got it).
Don't use a kroxigor base... They are 40mm and a Slann needs to go on a 50mm base. It is important in WHFB, especially if you are going to put him in a unit. You basically need a 50mm square to put him on, and there are loads of ways you can achieve that. Got two cavalry bases spare? Glue them together and fill the gap. Or same if you have 4 25mm bases. GW also sells 50mm bases seperately if you want to just do that. There are other companies that also sell bases, both fully detailed like the one posted by Godel and plain. If you have the modular movement tray you can cut out a 50mm square from that. Or you can simply use a piece of plastic or even corkboard or sheet metal cut to the right size.
All of the above ideas, plus my own two cents: Almost every FLGS has a "bits" bin you can pick up stuff on the cheap. Bases, arms, heads, whatever. Just do like Strewart said and make sure it's 50mm not 40mm! Yep, big difference! Failing that, like they said just get a ruler and some plastic. Too easy.
I only play with my school club so I have used a screaming bell base with a 40k valkery flying stem so it is high above ground level- I don't know if it is legal to use this base foroficial games but it is an amazing way to display a slann and if you don't play competitively it's fine in a game situation
Yeah, but then he'd have to airbrush flames on the sides and put some killer subwoofers in it. That's pricey.
