    Hey guys,

Had a battle today and me and my friends are still a little sketchy on the rules

Basically what happened was the black coach flew into the side of my 25+ saurus unit when it was fully powered up so it counted as etheral and had killing blow ect ect. He did like 5 wounds, i couldnt hit him back and he had a flank charge bonus.

I had a modified leadership of 3 i think... he flew after me, caught me up and killed the rest of my unit, and i couldnt do anything.... any hints for killing etheral's or am i doing it wrong?

he had like magic resistance 3? toughness 6.... is so hard to even touch. the only way i can see is surrounding it and outranking it.

If you carry a lore with a spell of doom it might work against it (Final Transmutation, Dweler's below, Pit of Shadows..).

i thought of that but its not much of a game changer... all he has to do is sit it back and power it up.... what if i surround it and beat it with combat res??

undead are usualy imune to psycology, so they don't run.
    but it will crumble.

But is the leadership modifier the same? it just seems silly that 20 saurus warriors will run and die so easily??

If all you were hit by was the black coach you would have still been steadfast (in fact, you stay steadfast against it as long as you have 5 models), so you would have tested on your regular leadership no matter how much you lost by (including bonuses from your general, bsb reroll, etc).

As far as tricks to beating it-- hit it before it gets powered up. Magic missiles, poison, etc early on makes it a lot easier to death with, and if you can get the charge (I recommend Skrox) combat res alone with make it crumble away.

usualy the trick to beating it is to attack it as soom as possible with poison before it goes etherial.

Yeah as vapor said, even with a flank charge you still retain steadfast so you shouldn't have fled so easily.

But aside from that rule, yeah one of the most expensive and powerful chariots in the game hits your flank when it is fully powered up, its definitely going to hurt! The thing is like most chariots, it is great on the charge but not so brilliant after that. If you held with steadfast, then it probably would have lost in the next round from static combat res and began to crumble. Put a unit with high static combat res against it (3 ranks, banner, charge if you can) and slowly whittle it down.

Of course the other option is to get it before it becomes ethereal. As mentioned, poison works well. Even a block of saurus should fair a little better if they are able to inflict a wound of their own back.

But really, LM don't have a lot that can deal with that kind of thing so if it does get to a fully powered up stage, try more to negate its influence rather than destroy it. Put a cheap block or charge redirecters in front of it, don't let it charge a flank (if you think you can get away, its probably better to elect to flee and rally next turn than take it in the flank or rear).

Magic Resistance pretty much just works vs. Magic Missiles now, so magic weapons would be fine against it. And if a VC player /ever/ charges a large block of something (Especially us) with a single model its going to end up crumbling in the end due to combat res. Your main worry vs that army should be if hes using a Corpse Cart, reroll to hit reroll to wound after they get their spells off is INSANE, especially considering alot of their stuff now is no Armour Saves Allowed (spells mostly). Corpse Cart is always at the top of my target list thanks to its effects though.
