Hey everyone. I recently looked over N810 (I think that was the name) painting log and got Inspired to use Skink Cohorts. I normally wouldn't try to rank the skinks up to avoid headaches... But these OOP Skinks he bought and painted looked great for Skink Cohorts. So my question is if any of you have some up-close and personal pictures of them? They kook like they'd rank up way better than the current skinks. It also looked like they were a bit more muscular. So anyone have any pics/advice/comments on these?

This photo shows my skink cohorts, which are mainly converted skinks from the 5th edtion plastics. They rank up beautifully. Loads more about how they were made in the "Old Schooler New to Lizzies" thread, here in the LO Painting and Converting area.

Still have a bit of painting to do. Sorry about the Sallie partly blocking the view...this photo was taken on Sunday, not specifically for this reply.

Here's another photo which I took to show the scale of the Lizard Ogres that I'm sculpting:

Not to thread jack, but man i'm itch'n to get them krox. Any progress getting them cast?

Anyway, i personally would use the new models. Actually not would. I do use the the new models for my skrox. The old ones carry bows. And you cant just chop them off. You have to sculpt and file them away. Plus they are a lot smaller as you can see in thinkster's picture. His front row is new and back ramks are the OOP. But he is an awesome sculpter. So no trouble for him. As for the rest of us, we got to make due.

I guess depending on where you play and how strict you are with WYSIWYG, I recently pulled out all my old lizardmen and started a new army, I have tons of the oop skinks with the bows, and painted up a bunch for my skink skirmishers.

    Here is the thread http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/looking-for-old-school-saurus-shields.8952/

Since I have so many I fully intend to make some skink cohort units with my extras. I'm not going to attempt to cut all those little bows off to replace with javs or hand weapons. In my little circle of players no one will care about this minor detail.

All depends on how you want your army to look. I have a lot of oop models in my army now, and I really like it. Being around the hobby for a while I like the idea my army has a touch of the old, and some of the new.

@Thinker, your modelling is amazing dude!

Well I had planned to file off the ends of the bows then attaching the old Lizardmen metal shield to them, using the parts of bow still attached to the hands as a handle for the shield.

Actually there is a mixture of old and new skink figures in my Skrox ranks, they mix rather well with the modifications I've made. There was no way was I going to replace 90+ plastics with new plastics...I can't bring myself to waste money like that!

I've been adding a touch more detail to those Krox proxy sculpts before I have them cast. I think May is a realistic timeline for them to be available for sale. I"ll update the "Old Schooler New to Lizzies" blog with photos when I get a chance :)

I'm just putting the finishing touches on my own Skinkrox unit at the moment and they are a pain in the bum to rank up. However I've gotta say it's totally worth it, I use the new skinks but even with old ones I think the unit's look an absolute joy! They are brilliant in the game as well! :)

Yeah. I didn't really consider people without having new skinks. I have tons of oop and 50 so.e new models. I only use my oop for skirmishers because I have the new ones. I couldn't bring myself to use the small ones in hand to hand having both. But if you are going to hide the bows with a sheild, keep in mind they still have arrows on their back.
