So the other day i was just reading my Army Book for fun and i noticed something funny about the Lizardmen Heroes mounts! Some of you are probably already aware but just in case you didn't notice

    Kroq Gars Carnisaur is Grymloq
    Tiktaq' To's Terradon is Zwoop
    Mazdamundi's Stegadon is Zlaaq

Obviously referencing the Dinobots from Transformers! Grimlock the T-rex, Slag the Triceratops, and Swoop the Pteradactyle! It made me so happy lol

So i was wondering if any of you guys noticed any cool popculture references in other army books & codexs??

Nice! Good catch. I'm not too familiar with Transformers, but the LM army has a history of using silly names.

oh, warhammer writers seem to live for their shout-outs/puns, especially for character names.

I can't think of any pop culture ones at the moment, but I can think of a few names that stick out. Tiktaq'to is up there with the dumbest. I've got mixed feelings about Kroak, mainly because in my head, I pronounce it crow-ack, rather than crow-ke.

I actually had pronounced Kroak as crow-ack for quite a while, and then I just looked at it once and was like "Wait... oooooooohhhh."

I actually like Tiktaq'to's name. *hides*

I looked at the Map of Lustria recently and saw Gwakamol crater its like GWs devs went to a Mexican restaurant and looked at the menu for Lizardmen stuff.

Other pop culture stuff ive found in some books

Malkith Leader of the Dark Elves is the leader of the Dark Elves in Marvel comics he is an Arch enemy of Thor/Hes also referred to as the Witch King in reference to Lord of the Rings

Guardsman Marbo is Rambo with the M and R reversed

Crom an old WoC hero is named after the God Conan the Barbarian prays to

In the Black Templars book theres a Holy Orb of Antioch an awesome reference to the Holy Hand Granade of Antioch from Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail

Can i just say im shocked that the Bretonnia book has no Monty Python stuff at all not even alittle like a rule called "Its just a flesh wound" or anything that disappoints me im gonna be on the look out for more stuff its fun to look for

Of course you all realize that this is only o.k. when GW does it. If we did it back to them we'd be sued for copyright infringement <ducks!>

Actually, I have not been bothered by them for calling my Kroxigor-Proxi-gors CrocOgres, so I take it back...GW are a lovely bunch of fine fellows, Love and kisses, XOXOXO, Your Friend, Tink! ;)

I just can't take some lizardmen characters serious because of their retarded names. I don't care that he's the Master of Skies, his name is frickin' Tick Tack Toe... don't get me wrong, i'd put a pun or two in the armybooks as well, but they really went all out with the lizardmen..

Are you talking about Vardek Crom, the Conquerer? I always imagined it came from Cromwell.

Well, you could perhaps count the incredibly retarded peasants.

There's tons, some of it not very imaginative at all, especially names of cities.

For example Itza = chichen itza, but then again, not many Mayans around these days to sue for copyright infringement.

The Orcs and Goblins' "Gittilla da Hunter" is taken from Attila the Hun, both in name and the fact that they are both mounted archers!
