8th Ed. 50 Points short of 2000 any suggestions?

Alright it has been a while since I have posted and I need some help I am coming up short on my 2000 point list. Some background I normally play against Skaven and Ogres, however on occasion I play against Empire and High Elves. The Ogres were my main opponent for a long time I usually can deal with them, the Skaven as long as I don't screw up the deployment. Empire I am slowly getting the hang of and the High Elves well I spend most nights laying awake pretending that never happened. SO without further adieu my list:

so there it is all told it comes to 1956 any help will be welcome I am trying to go with a well rounded list that can take on most comers

44 points short? That's 4 hand weapon Saurus and your 15 strong unit looks like it could use some additional pad.

Alternatively you could give your BSB a Cold One (don't do this if you are facing an artillery heavy army) for 20 points and use the remaining 24 to buy two more Chamo Skinks.

On the whole this seems like a balanced army to me. I don't normally go with two Scar Vets on a 2000 point list as a personal preference but I see nothing wrong with taking two Scar Vets.

Do you find him useful? To me, he dies pretty easily and has little damage output. I don't see much value to Piranha Blade, especially without more defense. I'd usually rather have Sword of Might or Burning Blade instead, and those allow better defenses.

High Elves and Ogres should kill this guy easily, and some Empire armies should also. I don't see much value to armour piercing against Skaven.

In my experience, this is too small. Especially way too small to add a character.

I see no good reason to go above size 10.

I find the Ancient Stegadon to be much better. The blowpipes are usually a better weapon (giant bow rarely hits), the extra armour is usually a wound or more a game, and the strength 6 makes a big difference against a lot of things.

Or get a swarm for 45 points and redirect something...sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference!

I agree with this, but if you're going to do it anyways at least make one of them 13 so it has to take a panic test at 4 dead instead of 3.

At the very least, spend 2 extra points and change his shield into the "Charmed Shield" from the rulebook, you will like him way more after that. I love the piranah blade on old bloods, i dont use it on scar vets only because it doesnt allow them to buy many defensive items.

Besides that, i agree with david and thinker'er.
