I'm about to start on my Temple Guard for my Host of Tepok, and since they can live for millennia (unless they are the unfortunate victims of an overabundance of violence), I wanted to really make them looked battle-scarred. That being said, are there any good tutorials out there for creating such scarring—on both flesh and equipment—that I could use? I'm using Google as well, but I thought I'd try here to cast a wider net. Preemptive thanks, --DF2K
X-acto (hobby) knife makes some pretty good scars.... lol .... no not in your hands. But realy I mod a ot of my models by carving them up with a sharp knife, stuff like taking a couple nicks out of the edges of their head crest and weapons can be convincing. reinforce this with your paint to make it show up.
I was gonna say use a knife as well, but wasn't sure if gouging the models would have the desired effect.
I use a pin heated in a candle (held with pliers, not fingers). Points end for scars and scrapes, rounded end for boils and big stabs. If you like you can gently cut off the upper layer when it cools, making a flatter, older wound.
