ok guys, stop wishlisting and open your eyes:
-we know that the slann is going to be nerfed, and salamanders too
-we know that our ranked units won't have the choice between weapon options, because gw would sculpt new models
-we know we are not going to have some sort of war machine

    SO

at the moment, LM are a balanced army. We have nice core units (saurus, skrox, skirmishers) but no deathstars, no real èlite troops. In high points games we need the strong magic phase the slann can provide, but soon the slann will be weaker so what can we do in close combat vs nasty enemy units? The answer is nothing. We could try with salamanders... but they are going to be nerfed too. Our poisoned darts cannot do very much against armoured targets or big units, we know. The sad conclusion is that lizardmen are going to become a weak army. The only thing that can save us is that gw doesn't give us some pricey monsters who die for a cannonball, but some new powerful ranked unit. I hope that this happens. Please say me that i'm wrong

with tau, eldar and now apocalype in a row surely with the new lizardmen they are going to try and appeal to warhammer fans as much as possible thus maximise sales no?

    sorry :D

but being pessimistic is the best thing: if things go wrong you knew it, so it cannot be an ugly surprise. If you are wrong it makes you happy. Always be pessimistic <.<

I call this approach "being realistic" for exactly the same purposes. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Although, I should say GW has done well with the 8th ed books sofar, IMO, balancewise.

More like an incomplete conclusion. You're just doing the opposite of wishlisting. (sh*tlisting?) Also, pessimism is not realism. Why would they only do nerfs? Not sure if you're trolling, TBH.

There's lots of things that could shake up the army composition. Strength 5 Kroxigors, skink priests using beast magic, razordons with march and shoot, salamanders without march and shoot or maybe they will change it from "each model hit" to "each unit hit suffers D6 wounds", cold one cavalry becoming better priced, etc.

I will concede that I will be amazed if they somehow make swarms viable.

Is it confirmed that Slanns will have their Awesome Greives (+10 Awesome Points) "upgraded" to Leather Average Trousers (+5 Awesome Points)?

Also, I can't see GWS creating new models for Saurus/Skinks/Krox as they aren't disproportionate to other races and don't look retarded (I could have just said "looks current"... ). So I can't see the need to recreate the core models.
Also, they haven't done that with any of the other new releases (High Elves, I know for a fact. Other races not so much fact).

    EDIT:
I also look forward to appropriately priced named characters with applicable 8th edition abilities.
Possibly some new models to convert would be cool. And sacred spawnings = yayness.

I'm hoping they don't take the nerf bat to the slann too hard. magic is really all we have.

I wish we had kitable saurus because I1 and not option to take halberd or GW sucks

while this would be nice you have to admit sarus with gw would be a tad broken

As much as I would like to have them, I would think core infantry with that stat line and S>4 would be more than a tad broken. :) They would make Temple Guard all but useless too.

I don't think they'd be broken at all. 2pts a piece for a GW. I can think of another core unit which can take GW and Halberds and obliterate sauras, Chaos Warriors.

Everything just needs to be points appropriate. o_O

    Howie.

not if they gained the same option and kept their current rules: better ws + slann synergy.
