It seems that life will be getting even worse more my beloved skink & Krox units They were barely usable before, but now... I will try to find some other uses for them, but in the meantime, here are some images: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/Wappellious/Warhammer%20Lizardmen/showcase%20stuff/KroxandskinkdisplayB7_zpsd2a23f27.jpg There are more images on the blog: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2013/08/back-home-in-lustria.html
The Kroxigor Ancient, with the shield, where did you get if from, or is it a conversion? I recognise the blade from my Reaper mini Oldblood! Overall I love the work done here, especially the Krox
Thanks! The big krox is a Reaper figure... the largest of the Reptus line. Since I work in assembly line fashion (and it is usually many months between the times I get to work on my own minis), it is hard to tell. A rough estimate would be 5-6 hours on each krox, and 3-4 on each skink.
More skinks! A link to the post with more: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2013/08/wee-little-skinks.html
Beautiful stuff. How do you do the stripes on the skink's tail? Are you painting one band of black, then going back over it green/skin colour? Which brings up the question, are they green with black stripes, or black with green stripes? Also also, that chunky skink chief is an interesting model, where's it from?
The skink with the bloated neck is an old style metal champion from many moons ago. To do the stripes, many glazes of darker green were applied with a liner brush. Some lighter colors were added in a similar way...
I see on your blog that you used cork and sculpey to make the stone bases. Can you elaborate on that sculpting process? Which parts are cork, which are sculpey? Do you have any pictures before it was painted? I've never worked with sculpey, but want to make some nice bases in the near future.
There are 86 posts on my various methods of basing on the blog (and it keeps growing!!!), but I have tagged a few for you: This one is sculpey alone: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/p/painting-marble-and-tile-flying-base.html An article on the sculpey itself: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2013/03/time-to-bake-some-sculpey.html And a few posts about using the sculpey and cork... http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2013/06/sculpey-time-last-several-days-as-i.html http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2013/05/more-bases.html http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2012/11/having-blast-with-basing-part-one.html http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2012/04/basing-in-hurry-using-whats-on-hand.html I hope this is a good start!
Wow a lot of good information. Your blog has a ton of good stuff to keep me busy for a while. Thanks!
I am glad that could be helpful! There are also basing posts within each army thread, such as this: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2012/02/images-of-converted-terradons-on.html This is a 3 part article... here is Part One: http://wappellious.blogspot.com/2012/05/skirmishing-movement-trays-for-skinks.html
