Hi, this is a n00bish question but I'm going to ask it anyways: In the Army Book where it talks about making an army list and the number of total characters and maximum number of lords you can take depending on the army points value - where does it say how many heroes you can take? Is that included in the number of total characters that can be taken? Further along in the stat section there are "named heroes" (Gor-Rok, Tetto'Eko, etc) and then others unnamed heroes (like the Scar-Vet and Skink Priest). I'm confused! So! To recap! Does the number of characters you take draw from both Heroes pages in the Army Book? Kthx!
There are two types of characters, heroes and lords. At a given point value, you will be allowed a certain number of heroes, lords, and characters. At 2000-2500 is where games usually take place, so I'll use that example. You are allowed to take 4 characters, 1 of which may be a Lord. So, for your characters you could take 1 Lord and 3 heroes or 4 heroes, but NOT 1 Lord and 4 heroes, as then you'd have 5 characters. Convoluted as can be, but that's GW. Now the ones with names are special characters, but they will each still fall into either Lord or Hero choices. They count for a Lord or hero choice (or choices) as they describe in their rules, or you will be able to tell from what section they are in. Special Characters tend to cost more, and have unique, sometimes overpowered rules. Including them or not will depend on whether you want to go to tournaments (most ban them) or you want to play friendly fluffy games, in which case you'd work it out with your opponents beforehand anyway.
