    Hi all

So I have come up with this list of a 1000 points army against Dwarves, I have not fight Dwarves before but I have give their army list and tactics a brief study and here is a list that I hope will work well:

    Scar-vet on Cold Ones - 136 points
Light Armor, Great Weapon, Dragon Helm, Iron Curse Icon, Luck Stone

He will be joining a unit of 5 CoC with SB and Razor Standard - 240 points

2 blocks of Skrox, with 30 Skinks and 2 Krox each, SB and Champ
    = 276 points x 2

A unit of 6 Chameleon Skinks with no stalker for 72 points

I feel that this is a very fast army. The CoC with a strong Scar-vet should provide some hitting power against the warrior that the Dwarves might bring. High armor save of 2+, and 1+ for Scar-vet, should protect them from ranged attacks. Iron Curse Icon should also provide some protection against war machine, or at least make them target some other units.

The Chameleon Skink will either at least do some shooting early on, take out a war machine if really lucky, or at least attract some cannon fire so my Skrox and CoC will advance quickly without being shot at. Should they choose to ignore the Chameleon Skinks, I am sure they will regret overlooking the power of poison shootings!

The Skrox will have 30 Skinks each, with so many Skinks, the Krox should be well protected. Skrox is slower than CoC but I hope they are fast enough for flank. Skinks are just there to die and remain steadfast or rank bonus. The real hitting power comes from the Krox and at S6 I hope it will do some good damage.

The 5 CoC will have Razor Standard which should proof helpful seeing that most Dwarves are heavily armored. The Scar-vet will be giving out 4 S7 armour piercing attacks, and I am hoping this is good enough to take on a Dwarf hero (I heard they are extremely strong fighter in CC tho.....) Moreover having 3 AP attacks from the Saurus and Cold Ones should help a lot in CC.

I try to make it difficult for the Dwarves to pick a target for their war machines. Killing my CoC wouldn't be too easy especially with 2+ AS and 6+ Ward Save. Aiming the canon at the Skrox would be pretty pointless and hoping to hit the Krox is also ineffective. Hitting the Chameleon Skinks is probably the best choice early on, however that does mean my Skrox and CoC will arrive in a matter of seconds untouched.

    What do you guys think?

I think you are fighting the dwarf player on his terms.
Although your army is fast you still intend to slog across and try and hit him in the face. You have few units (so his shooting could be concentrated) and weak combat troops (against his tough, high AS troops).

IMO LM is one of the most handicapped armies under 1500 points. I agree you are fighting a battle that is heavily favored in the Dwarf player's side. My buddy plays Dwarfs, I love them, but I hate them too.

The typical Dwarf army relies on warmachines to pick you apart prior to you hitting their Iron Breakers/GW wielding crazy random dwarf warrior and sometimes, though unlikely at this point level, they have thunderers.

At 1000 points he is going to have alot of free space in his deployment area. However a smart dwarf player will deploy their units on the flanks of their Warmachines in order to protect them. This can work for you though. Deploy your chameleons on one of his flanks and start peppering him. He will have to spend a movement phase to face your chameleons with his infantry before he can charge so you can just move them to his new flank come your movement phase. This effectively prevents him from ever charging your Chameleons if you get the distance right. This will commit his warmachines to shooting your chameleons or else he will take heavy loses.

Dwarfs hit hard once in CC though so becareful. The goal is to get into CC right as your Chameleons die. If they don't die and he isn't shooting at your CoC or SKrox I wouldn't charge. You want him to take as many loses from ranged prior to entering CC because I believe he will have the advantage once that starts.

Actually lizardmen are one of the stronger armies at lower point games, you just need to build the right list.
Dwarves can still be a bad match up though.

So a smart dwarf player who knows you have some of the best scouting skirmishers in the game is going to leave his flanks wide open? No player in their right mind will try and engage a single skirmisher unit with a single block unit and he doesnt need to, dwarves have high AS so those darts will hardle dent a warrior unit. If i was a dwarf player I would bunker up in one corner, shooting and letting you charge and die to my warrior hordes.

A dwarf player at 1000pts will be wanting to maximise his advantage, so i would suspect he will be taking few but large units (for point denial) and maybe a couple of warmachines (so he can make you come to him).

Im playing in a 1000pt tourney soon and this is what im taking:
Scar vet, cold one, LA, charmed shield, dawnstone, burning blade

    10 cohort skinks

    10 skirmishers
    10 skirmishers
    10 skirmishers

    8 camo skinks
    8 camo skinks

    3 terradons
    3 terradons

    2 salamanders

    1 razordon

Would a musician be more useful in the Skrox units than the champ?
