Firstly, I'm very new to Warhammer in general. I have just got the book and I am about to buy the Battalion Box.

This is my first draft of what my 1,200 point Lizardmen army will look like. Please feel free to give as much constructive criticism as needed! The army will be only played against friends; their armies are WoC, VC and Orcs&Goblins.

    My army:
    General- Saurus Oldblood
    w/ Piranha Blade & Shield
(will be in a unit of Saurus)

    BSB- Saurus Scar-Veteran
w/ Cold One, Light Armour & Shield
Not sure which banner to take yet- Rampager's or Jaguar
(will be in a unit of Cold One Riders)

    Skink Priest (lvl.1)
    w/ the Cube of Darkness
Not sure which lore I will take- need to do some more research regarding that

19 x Saurus (+ Oldblood in this unit)
w/ Hand Weapon and Shield & FC

    16 x Saurus
w/ Hand Weapon and Shield & FC

    12 x Skink Skirmishers
    w/ Blowpipes

7 x Cold One Riders (+ Scar-Vet on Cold One)
    w/ FC

    This army is 1,195 points.

    Thanks for any feedback.

I haven't had a chance to do any of the maths on the points on this but some quick bits and pieces.

1 - Skirmishers should always have javs and shield. They get a 5+ and they will be more effective at hitting as you will often be at 7+ with the blowpipes if you want to take advantage of their multi shot, at which point poison stops working.

2 - I would swap the cube for a regular dispel scroll. the cube has a 1/6 chance of not dispelling its target and I would hope that at that point level there wouldn't be to many remains in play spells kicking about to try and catch with the cube. Plus the scroll is cheaper.

3 - One big block of saurus is better than two little blocks, I would put them together into a 5x6

4 - Normally I wouldn't put the BSB on a mount unless most of the army was fast moving, the problem is he will quite possibly leave the big core units behind and then they will lose the benefit. Traditionally I would put your characters the other way round, the general in the cold ones and the BSB in the saurus block. I don't know whether that is doable with the points you have available though.

5 - Magic, this is a bit personal preference but with only one spell on offer I would go beasts. You might get curse of anraheir which is awesome but you can always fall back to wyssans which is guaranteed to be useful nearly every turn (+1T will always help) whereas I find Heavens to be a bit more situational.

If you shave any points out of the above choices (possibly reduce the number of saurus a bit) I would also try and get in another unit of skirmishers.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have a play around with the points and see what I can come up with. Cheers!
