1.5k list Saurus scar vet, light armour, enchanted shield, burning blade of chotec-138 pts Eotg priest, lvl 2 diadem and scroll-440 15 saurus, banner and musician + spears-210 14 Temple guard, musician, standard bearer-261 5 cold ones, standard bearer (totem of huanchi) +musician-230 12 skinks skirmies-70 12 skinks skirmies-70 Salamander w extra handler-80 total-1499 Ok, so im playing OG, skaven (damn stormbanner, i would bring terradons but...) and tk, I have good success with temple guard without slaan, and my cold ones are pretty deadly, what im worried about though, is the fact im only taking 2 units of skirmies.... Generally the main strategy should be to move up with a skink screen infront of the saurus/tg anvils, who will be flanked to both sides by cold ones and the stegadon. The scar vet will stay in the temple guard unit to give them some killing power, and the salamander will go for targets with low ld like goblins and clanrats.... Thoughts? Suggestions?
If you're putting the scar vet with the temple guard, you're sitting at a 16 man unit. I say drop a TG and go 5x3. It'll save you some points. Again same with the saurus. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the new rules you have to have ranks that are 5 wide to get rank bonuses so it would be useless to go 4x4. Go 5x3. This leaves you with 29 points to spend. I think adding 4 skirmishers to you units to make them 2x12 skirmishers might help you out a little bit. What do you think?
Not sure how fixed on the EotG you are, but if your willing to drop it you could get a 2nd unit of Cold One Cav.(I generally go with no command if they're in a hammer/ support role), a 2nd skirmisher unit, a fully tooled up lvl 2 mage, and still have points to dabble with... Just a thought for your consideration...
A very good point, someone should post a thread detailing the pros and cons of the eotg....its so expensive, but i currently dont have the models to replace it.... what hurts the most is that its not actually that amazing, its like putting your skink priest up on a platform with a *shoot me* sign written on his head
