Alright so I bit the bullet and told the guys I play with that since we only had 3 to play that I would take on 2. The max list I can generate is 4500. The amount of core is really the only thing restricting my list from being bigger. I have all models to use to make up an army list and will probably be going up against beast-men and ??? So here is what I have so far: Slaan -book of ashur -skavenpelt banner -Becalmin cognation -Wandering Deliberations -General -BSB Oldblood on Carnosaur (loping stride) -Armor of Destiny -Dawnstone Gor-Rok Scar-Vet -Enchanted shield -Crown of Command Skink priest Lv 1 -Engine of the gods Ancient Steg -Dispell Scroll Skink Priest Lv 1 -Cloak of feathers Skink Chief -Ripperdactyl -GAmblers Armor -Egg of Quagno CORE Saurus Warriors X 27 -full command -HW/shiled Saurus Warriors X 27 -Full command -HW/shiled Skink Cohort X 28 -3 Krox -Full Command Skink Skirmishers X 13 -Javelin/shield SPECIAL Temple Guard X 26 -full command -Razor Standard Bastiladon -Solar Engine Bastiladon -Ark of Sotek Ripperdactyls X 3 Jungle Swarm X2 Chameleon Skinks X 5 Cold One Riders X 6 -Champ, Banner Stegadon -Giant Bow -total 4501pts Initially I had the skink chief on a ancient with the egg, but he usually gets tied up in challenges and looses a lot of the charge attacks from the steg. So I moved him to be with the rippers for war machine and age hunting, maybe a rear charge. the basic idea of the list is to have 3 stubborn saurus units hold the center, with the skrox, carno, steggies, Bastiladons, and Cold One cavalry on the flanks. The exact setup will differ based on my opponents, but the saurus being at the center of it all is guaranteed. I could easily get rid of the two jungle swarms and ark of sotek for something else, I just really like the model So what do you think? I am open to any and all comments, thanks for taking a look everyone!
Re: 1 vs 2 (my 4500 pt army against two 2250's) HELP me prep Ballsy move. The one big thing I see is your Slann seems underwhelming for a 4500 point army. The Book of Ashur is good and consistent I suppose. But I would much rather roll out a Slann with the Channeling Staff, Harmonic Convergence, and Reservoir of Eldritch Energy. Pretty similar price tag but much better offensively and defensively I think. Could just be my play style. Go big or go home, you know? It's easy to make a Slann with lots of potential. I have a similar feeling towards your Cold One unit. I'd up them to 10 or don't bring them at all. A Stegadon does the same job for the same price. Besides that, I like the ideal of the army. The 3 very durable Stubborn blocks will work wonders. It'd be fun to see a batrep on this one.

I agree with this, Channeling staff and channeling at 5+ is much more usefull! And I think you are going to need it! If I may suggest a Slann set-up: Slann Mage-Priest General - [NO BSB - Becalming Cogitation - Harmonic Convergence - Focus of Mystery OR Wandering Deliberations (your choice, don't know which loremastery you prefer) - Resevoir of Eldritch Energy - Channeling Staff - Horn of Kygor The reason I shouldn't take a slann with a battle standard bearer and with a Horn of Kygor is because the rest of the lord 'n hero section: Oldblood on Carnosaur w/ loping stride, bloodroar - Armour of Destiny - Great Weapon - Dawnstone Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur w/ loping stride - Talisman of Preservation - Charmed Shield - Light Armour - Spear Scar-Veteran on Cold One w/ BSB put in a cold one unit - Enchanted Shield - Spear The Slann is going to be the unit which boost the carnosaurs! I should prefer in this list a focus of mystery and two additional lv2 beast priest because of the heavy character bash you will have! The effect of an oldblood with savage beast is just awesome! 8 Str 10 attacks of the oldblood and 8 str 10 attack of the carnosaur with multiwounds is awesome! Why a scar-veteran on cold one with bsb? LD bubble of 18", which should be very usefull with many frenzied units! Possibly you will take rippers so 18" for making a leadership check to make a normal move instead of charging! The cold ones are for protection and with two additional ripper units of 3-5 you will have a terrifying army! And it will very fun to play! 2 carnosaurs, 18 cold ones, 2x3-5 rippers! All these units are able to charge in the second turn! and if you don't have the first turn and you are lucky, you could have many first turn charges! Core I like to play with a huge block of saurus warriors! the enemy won't get through with normal troops so he have to bring heavy troops! I prefer a block of 50 saurus warriors, if you think it is to big, 40 is also a good choice! Skrox is a no go I am afraid! Bring 29 or 39 skinks, put in a chief with Egg of Quango, poisoned and you have a brilliant unit which is going to ignored by many enemies, because they think they are that squishy, they won't do damage.. But in this set-up they are dangerous! and with 3 ranks of poisoned attacks with a egg of quango in it, you could beat monsters in a matter of seconds! Good choice to bring skirmishers, think about taking 2 blocks, just to block the enemy! They aren't dangerous, but if the enemy ignore the units, he will have some serious problems. His charges will be blocked! Also perfect fanatic and mangler hunters! Special Temple guard are ok, maybe a flaming banner for regeneration units! And yes, you definately want those guys in combat! they are that hard with a in it who can give them regeneration 5+! 36 is also an option, a bit more staying power! Bastiladons are a good choice, consider two solar engines! don't think a ark of sotek is going to bring you what you want, so also remove the jungle swarms! In my opinion there are better choices like one extra unit rippers! more Cold one cavalry, 6 of them will be gone soon! Chameleons are a good choice for warmachine hunting! but Rippers are as nice as chameleons! Maybe you can choose between one of them! so rippers or chameleons? Stegadon is ok! Ancient stegadon is better, sharpened horns or something like that! For a dual carno list I should advice to read the dual carno tactica of ZaGreekie! It was nice to read it and definately changed my mind about carnosaurs! Sometimes you have to take some risks, but it definately worth it! The reason why i mentioned that i would like to see a dual carno list in 4500 points is because of this awesome tactica! The ideas i gave you for dual carno are a bit copied.. But about something i had my own taughts in a battle with this points value!

Re: 1 vs 2 (my 4500 pt army against two 2250's) HELP me prep Well I had my battle, and I admit that the more units I have on the table the less effective of a general I am. Just a couple of highlights though... -I lost (but it came down to the wire -I was playing against beastmen and bretonnians -My slann miscast 3 times! including once on a 3d6 roll and another on a 2 d6 roll (epic? ha) -My carno/oldblood got charged by grail knights and they killed the carno in the first round, then my oldblood faild his ld test and got over run HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT but I agree I should have thrown him at something else and left a block of saurus for the cavalry. -All three blocks of saurus preformed wonderfully! I held up a unit of M@A (56) with a paladin and a beastmen horde with a special chara. (moon fang?) and a hero for about 3 turns. -Temple guard tore a hole through their center line and took out about 3 units (errant knights, realm knights with a couple hero's, beastmen special unit (ungors?) - my rippers got a flank charge on the errant knights, didn't score a single wound, fled and were overrun....lame -Solar engine went off once on the realm knights, i rolled a 6 on the reaction table and only managed one wound -my EOTG got popped on turn two by a comet or something (HIT on artillery dice, small template, rolled a 6 to wound and a 6 for wounds....squish and there went my ward save support and extra staying power in between my saurus units. In conclusion, the ark of sotek actually did quite well (killed a big beastmen construct thingy), the saurus units/temple guard did exactly what they needed to, and without some major losses of my carno oldblood and steggie I would have won hands down. However they didn't make it and I had to scrape to loose.

This don't happen very often, so don't think this happen many times! Did your slann blew his own head of? or did you rolled good miscasts (7)? How large was the unit the carnosaur was fighting against? Carnosaur with hand of god is nice combination! will make your carnosaur strike first!
Re: 1 vs 2 (my 4500 pt army against two 2250's) HELP me prep slann rolled a 12, 7 and 5 on the miscast chart, so actually through all of those i think i only lost a wizards level a wound or two and some temple guard. Not horrific i spose. The unit my carno lost to was a unit of 6-8 grail knights I believe. He rolled amazing and my carno didn't get any saves due to him being S6 on the charge. And my old blood whiffed, so all around it was nasty luck, but yes hand of god would have changed the game in a big way.

Or if they are terror affected you should gamble some bloodroar charges that have high chances to fail due to distance and force one or two 3d6 discard lower terror checks. Once you have failed. You cover your carnie with redirectors. Anyway the carno is gonna die. Dont expect a big day on the field. The dino drag so much attention and it should be played like that.
