Okey my very first army list was a complete failure but I'm back with a new and more legal one Core 2 12 x Skink Skirmishers (with Blowpipes and Braves) 180 16 x Saurus Warriors (with Spears, Musician, Standard Bearer) 210 General Skink Priest (level 2) 100 Special 5 x Cold One Cavalry (with Standard Bearer, Musician, ) 205 Total: 695 points So I have 305 points extra, any advice to what magic items I could use them on? Oh and a question: If a unit of saurus (16 saurus warriors) gives a total of 176 without anything and you then add spears as an example do you then add 16 points assuming everyone wears a spear or do you count the amount of spears?
Re: 1000 Point Army List (Help needed) Unfourtunately you need to use yoru points to buy a 2nd core unit. A legal list has at least 2 core choices. Your sarus are the only core choice. Perhaps some skinks would do the trick? I would not recommend the Temple guard in the list either unless you are planning to use a slann. Their rules seem to only make them worth taking with a slann, unless you have points to spend on elite troops (in a 1000point game every point counts). I would also recommend dropping the champions out of the units, especially the cavalry champion. You're spending a lot of points for one extra attack that could be used to boost your model count (and in a small game, your model count is important). The only real reason to take champions in units is for protection against challenges from characters you know can beat a character you plan to use in that unit. However, you won't see any lord level characters in a 1000point game and you'll find that a Scar veteran will do very well against nearly all other army generals. Speaking of generals, you will need to select an army general. You choices at the 1000 point level are a scar veteran (very dangerous in close combat), a skink priest (magic user, waek in CC) or a skink chief (close combat version of a skink, not really recommended). I know I would most likely take a scar veteran for my general, but choosing a priest is a viable choice if you know the list you'll be fighting, or you want the extra magic protection. I also notice, that you're taking 8 cold ones. I'd recommend dropping that number to 5 for a 1000 point game. Thats a large unit of cavalry and unless you decide to rank it up (which you loose a lot of combat potential by doing so) you'll find it difficult to make quick turns and position your troops. The smaller the unit, the easier that is.
Re: 1000 Point Army List (Help needed) Wow that was a lot of great advice the only problem is that I was supposed to go to my first battle tomorrow but funny enough I own 2 Skink Chiefs, No Skinks, No 2 core unit, No Magic Users, No General, No Ranged and no Slann XD Well Guess I'll start with buying a box of skinks and a Scar Vet?
Re: 1000 Point Army List (Help needed) If you are limited by models, you can give your sarus cavalry a banner worth up to 50 points if you need to use those points some place. I am not sure what else you can add with out adding more models to increase your points cost to 1000. You may need to settle for a smaller game until you pick up more models.
Re: 1000 Point Army List (Help needed) Hello, I'm new to Warhammer, I'm new to Lizardmen and I'm new to this forum. However I started with the Lizardmen Battalion, still assambling. So my advice from newbie to newbie: Improvisation! Your Temple Guards become Saurus Warriors, 2 of your CoC become Scar-Vet-Heros. So you can build a list like this: Hero: Scar-Vet Scar-Vet Core: 12 x Saurus Warriors (6x2) 12 x Saurus Warriors (6x2) Special: 5-6 x Cold one Cavalry

I've bought a box of skinks and a skink priest, planning on 2 12 x Skink Skirmishers either 1 with blow pipes and another with Javelins or both with 1 sort of weapon, not sure. Then since I didn't have any general I will be using a Skink priest.
Re: 1000 Point Army List (Help needed) A skink priest is a solid choice for a 1000pt game, considering that your Sarus have such high leadership to begin with. I would advise arming your skink units with blowpipes because of their superior range. Unless you're interested in arming them seperately to see how each performs.
