    Hello all,

I just started up a Lizardman army, after getting bored with an Empire army that I really didn't play around with much (My main opponents are Warriors of Chaos, Vampire Counts, and Tomb Kings...the only thing that worked was huge gunlines and it got a tad boring).

Anyway, I'm working on a 1000 point army just to get things started, and wanted some advice. I have two lists I've worked out. The first includes a Lord, but I think it's actually weaker than the second one, which includes a weaker lord and one hero. Let me know what you think.

    Tehenhauin, General

    16 Saurus Warriors, Standardbearer, Champion

    24 Skinks, Standardbearer, Champion

    16 Saurus Warriors, Standardbearer, Champion

    3 Jungle Swarm

    1 Salamander

    Total Points Lizardmen : 996

    OR:

    Saurus Oldblood, General
    + Shield, Light Armour
+ Scimitar of the Sun Reslendent, The Maiming Shield

    Skink Priest, Level 2 Upgrade
+ Cupped Hands of the Old Ones
    + Lore of Heaven

    16 Saurus Warriors, Standardbearer, Champion

    24 Skinks, Standardbearer, Champion

    16 Saurus Warriors, Standardbearer, Champion

    1 Salamander

Total Points Lizardmen : 997 (This list also costs a little less to actually buy, which is always a plus...)

Hopefully I've understood the rules for posting point values, please let me know if I need to edit anything. Thanks!

Both lists are lacking abit in high strength and/or poisoned attacks. Ranked skinks aren't really good shooters - too immobile with range 12" when they can't march and shoot, crazy vulnerable to shooting and they're probably the single weakest close combat unit in the game at 5points pr model. There is basically 2 reasons to take them - Either as 10 strong chalf/redirection units or to carry Kroxigors.

This is in regards to the 2nd list which is the one I think is most viable (LM special characters are generally not worth it):
The Cupped Hands is a great idea, but may be a little on the heavy side pointwise in a 1000 game. What I'd suggest doing is cutting some points on the Priest and going with a Scar-Vet as general. I'd then trade the ranked Skink unit and the points you save on Skirmishers (mobile bunker for the Priest), Chameleons, possibly Terradons and another Salamander. I'm liking the two Saurus blocks though.
