So I have asembled most of my guys now, took a lot longer than I tought (damn mould lines). And here is the list I came up with using the content I have. I will not be fielding the TG, instead I'll use em in the back ranks of the ordinary saurus as rank fillers for the time being. Will be putting the list to the test this weekend against WoC and Skaven. And would love some pointers if you have em. Scar vet on Cold One Sword of the hornet Enchanted shield Scar vet on Cold One Sword of might The maiming shield 2x15 Saurus Warriors spears, musucian, banner 12 skink skirmishers 5 Cold One Cavalry Champion, Musician 995 points. Was thinking of putting the scar vets in the saurus units, gives me 3 units with stupidity, but ld8 cold blooded should make that scarce. Any pointers here? Only thing I really can change is Magic equipment, take off 2 skinks, ad a coc, or make the rank filler TG in to a unit. Also for my next purchase (after having painted what I have). I was thinking a box of skinks and a kroxigor. Can then convert 2 skinks to priests on foot get another 10 skirmishers and a unit with skinks with a krox in it. Or should I be looking on something else? Need to keep stuff cheap since I'm on a strict budget. /Rickie Edit: Noticed, if I remove 2 skinks and the COC champion I could ad another COC for a total of six. Might be a good idea, would give me an extra attack, but a wider front......
I really really have always loved kroxigor, but they seem like they don't fit in anywhere. I was excited about having them back in mixed units, especially as a core choice, and general concensus is you only want one in a unit of skinks. Either go with the skinks and krox and fabricate some water terrain to pimp out with em, or try and pick up a stegadon (same $ cost as a box of skinks plus a kroxigor, and you def don't want to sacrifice your skirmishers for rank and file). that said, rank and file are really useful for redirecting charges, and a min unit of ten has a few good uses. 5x2 can deny ranks on a flank charge, and if they are ignored you can spend half your movement to move five models into the front rank and then throw 10 poisoned javelins at whatever badass they are staring down! 50 points and quite expendable. throwing in a kroxigor loses all of that flexiblity tho
Thanks for your input dirtydan17. I also really like the krox model, and it just looks awsome in a skink unit. So I will have one unit of those no matter how bad they are. For 110 points they are cheap enough to be terribad if I just use one in 2k games right? For 2k games I was planning running a slann with TG and a skink on EotG, will probably be the only steg I use. Hear that using to many stegs is considerd chease, and I mostly play with friends. That have trouble grasping the most basic of tactiks (one a WoC general is afraid of close combat with his tooled out warrior unit with exalted champ^^). Hmm no real coments at the list tough, guess that means nobody had any to major complaints and it should function alright. One question thou, terradons. I's that a must have unit? Seems expensive moneywise, and I prefer plastic. Seems fragile on that plast stand and will easily break? Or could cameo skinks do their jobs? Think I could easily convert those from usual skinks.
When expanding this army to 2k+, the only things I knew for curtain is that I will be using a slann and an EotG. I will try to make the list an "take on all" list as much as posible. After having gone throu the Magic's the slann can use I see that Beast's or metal are probably the most versitile magics. So I had an idea of making my slann use Beasts exlusivly, and build the army around it. Maybe not the greatest way of doing it, but the idea compells me in many strange ways. Any toughts or tips on this? If doing this I will need atleast 1 unit of CoC, 1steg (maybe 2), a scarvet on foot with jaguar flying thinge. Maybe a flying skink priest, or another scarvet on foot. Hmm teradons count as cavalry also no?, or should be counted as monsters or sumthing, should be able to cast "the wolf hunts" on em. This would give my army some nice suprise things to throw at the oponent, or just give me some aditional choises. If it dosent work out that great I can simply change very little to make it a standard list again.
