So, I figured i'd do like a semi-story like description of my battle a few weeks ago. It's probably terrible: my excuse is that it was written at almost 2am.
    Enjoy!

    The armies:

    Chaos Sorcerer level 3
    4 Chaos Ogres
    4 Chaos Ogres
    20 Chaos Warriors

I don't remember much more than this, other than the Ogres had Great-weapons, and the Sorcerer had Fireball, Piercing Bolts of Burning and Fulminating Flame Cage.

    Vs

    Lord: 205

Old blood /w Light Armour, Burning Blade of Chotec, The Maiming Shield

    Hero: 90
Skink priest /w Diadem of Power

    Core: 400

x16 Skinks /w Javelin, Shield, Skink Brave, Musician, Standard Bearer

x10 Skink Skirmishers /w Blowpipe, hand weapon, Skink Brave

x16 Saurus warriors /w Spear, shield, full command.

    Special: 305

x6 Cavalry /w Spear, Shield, Spawning Champion, Musician, Standard Bearer, Razor Standard

    Total: 1000

    The setting:

The Chaos had landed not far off shore, and their foul magic’s had already caused the jungle to retreat from them – the trees that had remained had been hacked down for fortification, although the Lizardmen were already marching to ‘greet’ their ancient rivals before they could do any further damage.
The Warriors of Chaos saw the humanoid lizards emerge from the dense jungle and quickly formed up – their demolishing of the jungle had left little in the form of obstacles, only their hastily built building and a fence were left, although there was a hill just in front of the jungle.

    Turn one - Lizardmen:

Lot-Huan, the Saurus Old Blood let out a bellowing roar, swiping the Burning blade of Chotec through the air, the heat shimmering around the blade. The Saurus Warriors to his left let out a similar roar, following his lead as they marched forward towards the Warriors of Chaos and a squad of Chaos Ogres.

The Skinks chirped and squeaked, and marched alongside the hill to the far left, towards another squad of Chaos ogres. The Skink Skirmishers quickly darted up the hill to the right of their breathren, the Priest following just behind them.

The Cold Ones and their riders quickly marched to the far right, bypassing the fence that the Chaos had built, ensuring to stay clear of the Chaos Sorcerer by keeping behind the building that they had built – their fortification had become something for the Lizardmen to use.

Turn one – Warriors of Chaos:
The first group of Ogres laughed heartily at the appearance of the Skinks beside the hill, and quickly marched in their general direction, their great-weapons easily capable of crushing a man-sized creature, let alone a small and fragile form of a Skink.
The Warriors of Chaos, being led by their foul Sorcerer, marched forward towards the Saurus Warriors and Old Blood – the second Ogre squadron marched in unison with them, thumping their great-weapons into their massive hands.
The Sorcerer chanted his magic words as he manipulated the Winds of Magic, managing to channel energy further into it. He recited the words of the Piercing Bolts of Burning, and aimed his spell at the Old Blood that was nearing them. The magical energy surged with Irresistible Force and let out a magnificent bolt of fire energy – but Lot-Huan growled loudly as the flames splashed around his body harmlessly, failing to wound the toughened creature. The backlash of magical energy drained the power drained the magical energy from the Sorcerer, leaving him weakened and less powerful than before (dropped a level and lost Piercing Bolts of Burning).

    Turn two – Lizardmen:
The Skinks and Skirmishers continued their march towards the Ogres, the Skirmishers coming to a halt at the edge of the hill they were on, the Priest next to them – the Skinks stopped in line with them, readying themselves as the Monstrous infantry came within firing range of them.
As the Skinks readied themselves, the Saurus Warriors marched forward with Lot-Haun walking a few yards away, growling loudly in anticipation of the fight against the creatures of chaos.

The Skink Priest manipulated the Winds of Magic, not managing to channel it any further, but the attempt of Iceshard Blizzard was quickly dispelled by the more powerful Chaos Sorcerer. He cursed in their tongue, wishing a curse on the vile chaotic worshippers.
The Skinks threw their poisoned javelins with gleeful clicks and chattered, half of the javelins found their mark, sinking into the flesh of the Ogres, the poison weakening one of the four (one wound).

Turn two – Warriors of Chaos:
The Ogres, irritated at the torrent of Javelins charged towards the small skinks, who screeched loudly, turning tail and fleeing, managing to keep a fair distance ahead – however, the Ogres didn’t seem to realize that they were backing into a trap as the Skirmishers were above them.
The second squad of Ogres fared slightly better and slammed into the ranks of Saurus Warriors, who growled and snarled as they pushed forward against the heavier bulk of the Monstrous Infantry.

The Warriors of Chaos, however, being led by someone more intelligent than the likes of the Ogres, realized that the Saurus Cavalry were vastly more dangerous, thus the Sorcerer manipulated the Winds of Magic once more, channelling more power into it and casting Fulminating Flame Cage on the Cold Ones with an Irresistible force! The flames wrapped around the Cold Ones, but none of them took any damage – which is more to say than the Sorcerer who suffered as the Magical Feedback send a bolt of pure energy at him, wounding him.
The Ogres, being much slower with their Great-weapons, couldn’t fight off the stabbing spears of the Saurus Warriors, the multiple weapons killing one, and wounding another. The Great-weapons did eventually come down, all three killing a single Saurus Warrior each, before three massive feet slammed and killed a further three.

    Turn three – Lizardmen:
The Skinks quickly reformed, turning around and quickly skittering up closer to the Ogres that charged them, again readying their javelins. Their high pitched voices carried up to the Skirmishers who were getting ready to ambush the Ogres.
The Cold Ones bellowed loudly, their riders as annoyed as them as they were confined to their flaming cage. They waited patiently for the cage to fall before they charged out, grumbling all the while.
Whilst the Cold Ones were caged, Lot-Huan, the Old Blood was not, and with an immense roar, charged fast and furiously into the Chaos Ogres flank.
The Skink Priest once again manipulated the Winds of Magic, but again the attempt of Iceshard Blizzard was dispelled! The Priest was beginning to get infuriated that he was being bested by such an abomination of the Will of the Old Ones.

The Skinks and Skirmishers then sprung their trap on the full group of Ogres, the Javelins thrown all found their mark, but only one managed to wound one of the tough creatures – but the flurry of darts from the Skirmishers managed to bring down the already poisoned Ogre. A victory yell came from both sets of Skinks which further irritated the Ogres.

On the other side of the hill, The Burning blade of Chotec being wielded by the Old Blood tore through the first Ogre, killing it with a flurry of blows. The Warriors, spurred on by their General , stab forward with their long spears and take a second Ogre out with little trouble – the last remaining Ogre hits a single Saurus with its massive weapon, the Great-weapon crushing the poor creature with little effort, and a large boot crushes another’s ribcage with a massive kick. The Ogre quickly realized, however, that the fight was lost, turned and fled the fight. The Saurus Warriors tried to chase, but only made a few yards; the Old Blood however, was much faster and chased the Ogre, cutting it down with ease.

Turn three – Warriors of Chaos:

The squad of Ogres, unaware of what was happening on the other side of the hill, were irritated with the trap that was sprung on them, and charged towards the Skirmishers that were on the hill. The Skirmishers however, were quicker on their feet, and like the other Skinks were able to keep further ahead of the Ogres.

The Warriors of Chaos quickly charged into the sluggish Saurus Warriors – their vile Sorcerer managed to manipulate the Winds of Magic once more, aiming to cast another Fulminating Flame Cage on the Cold Ones – but the Skink Priest managed to overpower the attempt and dispel it.
The Warriors of Chaos were much faster than the Saurus, managed to cut down six of the Saurus Warriors, whilst only one of the stabbing spears only managed to find its mark, bringing down one of the Chaos worshippers.
The Saurus, realizing they were outmatched, and fled the Warriors – however the sluggish metabolism of the Lizardmen became their downfall as the Warriors of Chaos managed to over run and hack down all of their members.

    Turn four – Lizardmen:

Lot-Huan roared loudly, mourning the loss of his brethren and charged into the rear of the Warriors of Chaos, the Cold Ones following his lead, slammed into the flank of the squad to avenge the Saurus who had perished.
The Skink Priest then manipulated the Winds of Magic, and managed to successfully let off Iceshard Blizzard on the Warriors of Chaos, whipping up a hailstorm on the chaos, whilst avoid striking the Old Blood and Cold ones.
The Javelins of the Skinks quickly found their mark and fell into the Ogres, poisoning one before wounding it further. A flurry from blowpipes that were in range felled the wounded Ogre, leaving only two left on the battle field. If they kept this up, the Skinks would be able to take the entire squad down.
Lot-Huan let out a flurry of blows once again, hacking into the back of the Warriors of Chaos, taking down two of them – the charging Cold Ones spears crashed into the sides of the Warriors, impaling four of them; their magical standard meant that the spears easily cut through the armour like it was simply paper. The Warriors returned attacks, but only fell a single Cold One. The front Cold Ones snapped and clawed forward to take down an additional two Warriors.

The Chaos Warriors began to panic, as they had been assaulted on the two fronts and lost in their fight so badly, combined with the whipping hail, they turned and fled, shouts of worry coming from them – but they couldn’t outrun cavalry, and the Cold One riders caught up in no time and butchered them in revenge of their brothers.

    ----------------------------------

Unfortunately, Games Workshop was due to closing so we didn’t get a final turn. I thought that I was going to lose, but after my Cold Ones cut down the WoC and Wizard, I was quite confident that with only two Ogres left, I would have won. The guy at GW agreed.
I was pretty surprised that it ended up like that – Iceshard Blizzard helped as he only failed the leadership by one, which could have massively changed the outcome of the battle.

a nicely written report. a pity that you couldn't finish the fight. just 1 question on lizards turn 3 - you rallied and reformed the fleeing skinks, then moved them and shot with them the ogres? or am I reading it wrong?

That was just me being creative, I think. I reformed and they were around 8 inches away.
