Hello everybody, I’d like to start playing WFB again and i’d like to try my luck with a 1000 point Lizardmen army. I read up on the rules, but it’s been more than 10 years since I last played, so any critique is welcome. Since I wasn’t quite sure if Cold One Riders would be worth it, or taking a Lord in a 1000 point army, I built these 3 options. I’d like to keep my Saurus Warriors to a max size of 29, since already have 13 and the regiment box is 16 saurus warriors. My main competitor will be an Ogre Kingdoms player, but some other armies I’ll be fighting often include High Elves, Skaven & Bretonnia OPTION 1 – Cold One Riders – 1003 points Heroes – 245 points Scar Veteran Light Armour, Enchanted Shield, Dagger of Sotek Skink Priest Lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok Core – 398 points 20 Saurus Warriors Spears, Shields, Full Command, joined by the Scar Veteran 11 Skink Skirmishers Javelins and shields, joined by the priest Special – 280 points 8 Cold One Riders Rare – 80 points 1 Salamander Crew 1 extra handler ------------------------------------------------------------------- OPTION 2 – Large core – 1002 points Heroes – 245 points Scar Veteran Light Armour, Enchanted Shield, Dagger of Sotek Skink Priest Lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok Core – 602 points 29 Saurus Warriors Spears, Shields, Standard bearer, joined by the Scar Veteran 11 Skinks Skirmishers Javelins and shields, joined by the priest 12 Skink Skirmishers Rare – 155 points 2 Salamander Crew 1 extra handler ------------------------------------------------------------------- OPTION 3 – Character heavy – 1004 points Lords – 238 points Old-Blood Sacred Stegadon Helm, Dagger of Sotek, light armour, extra hand weapon Heroes – 150 points Skink Priest Lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok, Staff of the Lost Sun Core – 536 points 23 Saurus Warriors Spears, Shields, full command, joined by the Old-blood 11 Skinks Skirmishers Javelins and shields, joined by the priest 12 Skink Skirmishers Rare – 80 points 1 Salamander Crew 1 Extra handler ------------------------------------------------------------------- If a Stegadon might be worth it at 1000 points, I could add one in option 1, by removing the Cold One Riders and adding 3 Saurus Warriors
Re: 1000 point starting Army (3 options, looking for some he Any of those lists would work. Cold one riders tend to be over priced, but they are quite durable at 1000 point sized games. Personally I would take a stegadon over CoRs, but I would likely put the ScarVet on a Coldone.
Re: 1000 point starting Army (3 options, looking for some he Haveing battled ogres a lot, I usualy take a unit of cold ones, as they have the best armor in the whole army. and usualy win combat or at least tie up a unit for 3 turns. oh and only skinks can take the Dagger of Sotec. you might want to swap out for the parana blade or burning blade of chotec.

I got another question for you guys. Is the Enchanted Shield (common magic item) 5 points (as per the 8th edition rulebook), or 15 points (as noted in the Lizardmen book)? I suppose it's 15 points, as the army book rules overwrite the common rules, but considering the difference in edition, I thought I'd check to make sure.
