I will be using this for a multiplayer gaming night coming up:

    Heroes
Scar veteran- cold one, shield, sword of striking
Skink priest- lvl 2, plaque of tepok

    Core
20 saurus with spears- full command
18 saurus with spears- full command

    Special
    Stegadon- 235

What do you think about my Heroes?
Would a stegadon be feasable in 1000 pts?
Are there anything I should be taking instead of something else?

Feedback will be much apprecciated thx

Alright... I've been lurking for some time now ans I think I have a grasp on what most people will say... That and I've been playing quite a bit...

    So a couple things...

On the Saurus, drop the Champion. The extra attack is not worth the points. Second thing (Which seems to be debatable) Is to drop the Spears on the Saurus. You don't really have big enough blocks to make the 3rd rank fighting worth it because from missile fire you will probably take some casualties on the way. So instead I recommend dropping them to both 18 Saurus HW&S with Musician and Standard.

Add some Skinks! They're great and your list has almost no shooting and a lot of it will die before reaching combat, meanwhile the other person's army is unharassed.

Take out the Stegadon, It's just got a GIGANTIC target on it's head and with no way to heal it's WD it'll die quick to shooting. Instead, Add some Sallies. They were great in 7th and now outshine everything in 8th. Those flame templates will decimate troops like no tomorrow, which is what you should be mainly seeing.

Did I do that right?

Yes! I agree with everything atleast.

One more thing I would look at is changing your Scar-Vet build, putting him on a Cold One is great, but he really needs a Ward for that to be a safe choice. So I would either take him off the mount altogether, or remove a level on the Skink Priest to give him the necesarry protection. The Sword of Striking is generally a great choice though.

ok this is my revised army list:

    Heroes
Skink priest- lvl 1, plaque of tepok
Scar-veteran- cold one, shield, sword of striking, dawnstone

    Core
18 saurus with spears, full command
19 saurus with spears, standard, musician
    12 skink skirmishers - javelins + shields
    2 jungle swarms

    Rare
    Salamander - extra snack

    (998)

The reason for my non-amendments are:

-My scar-vet has a 2+ re-rollable AS and he is in a unit so I don't think he needs a ward
-I have taken the champion out of one saurus unit but kept one in the unit with the scar vet to protect him from any unwanted challenges.
    - I am sticking with spears because I don't have the models :(

unfortuantely he can still be picked out by shooting because he is a different troop type than the Saurus, and won't get a Look out Sir.

That means that the first Cannon or Bolt Thrower you face will be a serious headache.

The generic build for a Cold One Scar-Vet seems to be this:
Scar-Vet - Cold One, Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon
