7th Ed. 1000 points for vs. Dark Elves

    I have an upcoming game against my friend, who is fielding Dark Elves. I've played them before, but only at the 2250 level, so I need a bit of help with 1000. I won't know her Army list until the day of the battle, so the only thing I can guarantee that will be there is a unit of Corsairs. Anyways, here's the list I was planning on bringing:

    Scar-Veteran (Total 177)
    Light Armour & Shield
    Halberd
    Piranha Blade
    Bane Head
    Cold One
    This setup has 4 S6 attacks with triple (NOT QUADRUPLE) wounds, plus another S4 attack. I think it'll do pretty good against most characters and such.

    Skink Shaman (Total 150)
    Lvl 2
    Plaque of Tepok
    Horned One
    I plan on running around and casting Forked Lightning or Uranon's Thunder Bolt and then GTFOing thanks to the Horned One.

    15x Saurus Warriors (Total 210)
    Full Command
    Spears
    Ah, good old Saurus Warriors. I'm fairly confident that these guys can stand up to a unit of Corsairs, especially if I run 'em 5x3 (21 S4 attacks).

    16x Skinks (Total 157)
    Full Command
    1x Kroxigor
    I've never run one of these before, but I think it should work out well against DE. I couldn't afford another Kroxigor, but I think one should do just fine.

    10x Skink Skirmishers 70

    Everyone likes Skinks, or at least everyone who doesn't have to play against a lot of them. I plan on using 'em to take out stuff like Hydras, Witches, and Harpies.

    3x Terradon Riders
    90
    There's only 3 of them, but I'm hoping they'll be able to deal with any Bolt Throwers or other nasties.

    Salamander Hunting Pack 75
    Anti-infantry. I use these in my larger battles, so I figure one should be a good thing to have in a smaller battle.

    Grand Total 999/1000

    You can drop the halberd on the scar-vet. Your bound to use your magic weapond anyway..
    Think I would have dropped banehead and the hornet one and add a unit of 10 skinks insted. These guys will be a pain vs any foe with light armorsave

    If you have a magic weapon your character cant use a non magical weapon. If you have a magical weapon you have to use it. I would give the Priest(not shaman) cloak of feathers instead. Increases your movement. You don't get an armor save but then again why would you need it, a 5+ is not very reliable. I would drop the skink unit with the Kroxigor in it. I dont really see how this unit will work for you. I would also re tool my scar vet if i were you. If you want him to do good against elves the Hornet sword can be really good. If you want him to go against elf calv i would give him the burning blade. The way you have him now hes a character killer but really, scar vet can tear up a hero level dark elf. That is unless he gets like killing blow. I personally would run Hornet sword and enchanted shield and go for his troops and win combat res and run his guy down.

    VS dark elves( t3 low save) you want to give your scar-vet many attacks, str 5 will be enough to kill most of their troops. With the +2 A sword, a cold one, LA and a shield, you get a 1+ save, fear causing, m7, 6 str 5 attacks ( + 1 str 4 attack) monster.

    As far as Skinks versus a hydra.. the hydra will still have to fail a 4+ scaley save and a 4+ regeneration save to be wounded the odds are not in your favor especially since everything that isn't a 6 to hit will need a 6 to wound.

    i wouldn't count on them dropping the Hydra.

    I think your scar vet has a better chance, at least with str 5 he is wounding on 4's

    You let to much rest on the shoulders of those skinks, i dont think they will do to well, you could just use them to bait or aim there pipes at his block units, hopefully killing some so he cant count or 2, and then flank/rear charge.

    Well they actually did quite well, if I remember correctly. That battle was almost half a year ago.
    In the future, try to keep your posts to more current threads, folks.
