8th Ed. 1000 points list

    Hey everybody,

    I could use some advice on a 1000 points list. I will be fighting O&G but it would be nice to have a sort of allcommers list.

    Well here it goes:

    Scar-vet
    -Cold one, LA, Gold sigil sword, maiming shield

    Priest
    -Dispel scroll

    20 saurus warriors
    -spear, mus, std

    5 chameleon skinks

    6 chameleon skinks

    5 cold one cavalry
    -std: flame banner

    2x1 salamander hunting pack
    -2 extra handlers

    This seems like a fun list to me, mabye the COC aren't that good but i thought i'd try them out at least once.

    those COC will go down quickly against O&G. I would do the following:
    - remove COC
    - upgrade the priest to L2, give him plaque of tepok or diadem of power instead of the scroll
    - add more saurus to the block
    - unmount the scar vet and put him to that infantry block (think about replacing him by an oldblood)

    why will they go down quick to O&G? You're probably right though... The only thing is that dropping them would leave me with just one good combat unit. Is that enough?

    The oldblood idea is interesting as it will free up space in the hero slot for my priest. I was thinking of upping the block to 24, would that do?

    against O&G you will mostly face big units, even hordes. the 5 COC don't have a chance of winning combat against those. so you already have only 1 good combat unit ;)

    not sure what you mean by freeing up a slot for a priest - you already have 1 and that is enough. 2 is a waste of points (you will not have enough dice to cast spells with both).

    I run a block of 29+hero/lord, which proved OK in several games, but 24-25 could be fine as well.

    with the hero slot i meant that with the scar-vet and priest i'm really tight on points to fit them in the 25% heroes. But i might try to boost the saurus and get an oldblood.

    Any other tips? :)

    If you're using spears, run the Saurus 6 wide for maximum frontage, either with 18 saurus or 24 saurus (24 is probably best against OnG, you'll need the numbers).

    You also seem to be low on man-power, perhaps try grabbing some skirmishers or maybe even cohorts with the points saved by dropping the cavalry, just so you have something you can throw against the blocks of infantry he'll undoubtably bring. 24 Or so Saurus and 11 Chameleons won't be able to hold up against OnG numbers, even with sallies thinning their ranks.

    Good point! That's exactly what i was thinking... So i could also just dump the saurus character and get myself an extra unit of warriors

    So That would be someting like this:

    Priest: lvl2, plaque of tepok

    20 saurus warriors: Spears, standard, musician

    20 saurus warriors: Spears, standard, musician

    9 chameleon skinks

    8 chameleon skinks

    Salamander Hunting pack: extra handler

    Salamander Hunting pack: extra handler

    995 points in Total

    Any good? I quite like it, the only thing is that it seems so very symmetrical... Shouldn't be a problem though

    i would drop 5ish saurus and a couple chameleons in order to keep the scar vet. he would add a great boost to a unit of saurus while still keeping a sizeable unit to flank charge with.
