Well, as Ive never written a battle report I will try my best. I went down to the gaming club yesterday and played against my friend's WoC. The terrain was as follows: a wall in the dead centre of the table about 6 inches wide, each of us had a forest in our left deployment and a pile of rocks about 4 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter, about the same diameter for the forest. As we both had not played for a few weeks we decided to just fight to the death with no special rules or scenarios. The army lists: Lizardmen: Heroes: Skink priest level 2 with dispel: 125 Core: 22 Saurus warriors w/ hw + shield w/ standard and musician-260 2x10 skirmishers w/ blowpipes-140 10 skirmishers w/ javelins and shields-80 Special: Stegadon 6 chameleon skinks-72 Rare: Salamander w/ snack-80 Total: 992 WoCI don't know much about WoC but ill try my best on his list) Heroes: Lone Sorcerer lvl 2 w/ dispel scroll and an item that never came into play on barded stead Core: 20 khornite warriors w/ xtra hand weapon and full command( these little buttholes put out 4 attacks each!) Special: 2x5 knights w/ ensorceled hw(+1 str) and shield Spells: I got wind push and comet, he got fire cage and fireball Deployment WoCleft to right) knights on far left next to forest then sorcerer midleft, warriors mid right, and knights on the far right next to boulders My deployment: (left to right) on my far left next to the forest was blowpipe skinks in a line at 12 inches with the steg 2 in. From my table edge behind the skirmishers, blowpipe skinks middle with Saurus behind them, Saurus having been joined by priest, javelin skinks on right flank next to boulders with salamander in between them and the javelin skinks (all skinks were deployed the full 12 inches with other stuff behind them) chameleons scouted on the behind his boulders (my left) out of line of sight exactly 12 in from knights Turn 1 WoC: he marched both knight units up 14 in straight ahead, and marched up 8 with his scorcerer and warriors just to the right of the wall(my right). In magic he got 9 dice and I had 5. He used 5 dice on flame cage on my Saurus, he rolled a 22 which I let go. He rolled 1 hit and did not wound. He tried to cast fireball with his other 4 dice ony salli but I dispelled it Lizardmen turn 1: my chameleons marched up 6 inches behind the knights on my left flank and the left blowpipe skinks marched up to the side of the same knights ending with all of them within 6 inches the camo skinks killed 1, the blowpipe skinks killed one and the giant bow killed one, no leadership because of frenzy though. Middle blowpipe skinks moved in front of his sorcerer about 8 inches away and shot at him doing no wounds. The salli moved about 8 in. Away from the warriors and shot 5 of them killing 2. Right side javelin skinks moved within 6 of the knights on my right doing no wounds. My Saurus and steg did not move. Also I called a comet right in front of his warriors right between them and my salli on a miscast and I lost a wizard level. I lost comet. WoC turn 2: his knights on my left charged my blowpipe skinks. I was to close to stand and shoot so I fled into the forest. He ran me down but lost a knight running me down due to the dangerous terrain test! The last knight ended up about 6' in front of my Saurus. His warriors moved up right in front of my comet after having charged the salli who fled, with his back row standing on the marker and about 5 in behind the last knight, and his sorcerer moved up about 4 inches to the right of them(mine). The knights on my right flank charged the jab skinks, who did not kill any knights with their stand and shoot and were killed to the man, he then overran to about 2 inches in front of my salli who had fled jusTt to the right of my Saurus. In magic he killed the remaining 10 blowpipe skinks with an improved fireball. The comet did not come down yet Lizardmen turn 2: my steg declared a charge on the lone knight, which I just barely got rolling the 6 I needed. My camo skinks moved towards the action from My far left flank but were out of range to shoot. My salli rallied and shot at the knights. It hit 1 but failed to kill it. My Saurus turned to the right to get his knights in their front arc but did not move besides that. Then the comet came down like a fiery angel of vengeance and killed his sorcerer and 8 warriors!!!!!! The steg smoothed the knight and overran into the warriors wiffing with all of its attacks! He did 2 wounds to the steg. WoC turn 3: his knights charged the salli who held and was cut down. He overran into my Saurus. His knights killed 7( lucky parry saves) and I killed 1 knight. I held because of steadfast. His warriors did another wound to the steg. The skinks killed a warrior and the steg killed 3. He lost by 2. He lost his frenzy and was run down with both of us rolling 5s. So at this point steg is about 15 inches behind knights facing the wrong way. Lizardmen turn 3: the steg turns around and moves up to about 3 inches behind the knights and the camos move in right behind steg. He kills 5 Saurus this time (I now have 10 left) and I kill another knight. I hold from steadfast. WoC turn 4: he kills 4 Saurus, I kill 2 knights, and as we both have standards I lose by 2. Thankfully I pass my leadership and stay. Lizardmen turn 4: I charged with my steg and impact hits killed the last knight. All in all it was a fun game with a good amount of dramatic moments. We shook hands and talked about our favorite moments and all the what ifs. A victory for the forces of lustria! Please comment with any pointers or critiques about my report Thanks, Kharn
Thanks for the report and congrats for the victory! It was a nice read, pretty good for your first one. Only criticism I have is about the descriptive style. At least for me, at moments reading was bit more difficult as you used "my" in front of almost every unit. I would suggest just using the names of the units, as the opponent has different ones so there should be no confusion. It is just a minor flaw and might be only in my head and others can read the report just fine. I haven't faced WoC with any of my armies, so cannot really comment much on the battle itself. I know that the Warriors are a tough army at any points levels, so I think you did really well squeezing a victory. Good luck on your future battles and hopefully we'll see more of your reports!
