At the end of next month we are having a 5 player game using the above mentioned rules - I've never tried this before, but we are all supposed to bring 1000 points with us... (this is part of the escalation league/group thing I'm doing)

Just preparing what models I'm going to paint up for next month and looking at an army list for this game - how does this look:

Saurus Old Blood with light armour, dragonhelm, additional hand weapon, potion of strength
Skink Priest (level 2) with cube of darkness, opal amulet - running lore of heavens
12 Skink Skirmishers with javelins and shields - with champion
18 Saurus Warriors with spears and shields - with full command
20 Temple Guard with full command, using war banner on standard and sword of striking on champion (old blood will live here)

    Comes to exactly 1000 points.

I'm a bit limited on what models I have at the moment - it feels like I should be able to hold my own with that lot - though having never played Triumph and Treachery I have no idea how the game will go....

    Thoughts?...

I would give your OB a great weapon just because you have nothing else that can crack high armour. strPot only works once and you may need it more often then that.
I'd also take beasts over heavens. Amber spear, transformation or savage beasts could massively swing combats in your favour. Heavens is more about controlling your opponents movement with minor combat buffs. With 5 players that will get messy fast, though comets could be really good times.
Also give the saurus sword/board. The block is way to small for 5 more attacks to be better then a parry save.

    OB GW armour of destiny
    Lvl2 Beast priest, Cube, Opal

    10x Skirmishers
    19x Saurus FC

20x TG FC banner of swiftness, sword of swift slaying

That's what I would go with while keeping the same models. Faster TG, stronger magic, str7OB. I don't normally take a magic weapon on my champion but I'm told swift slaying is the way to go. Best of luck and cross your fingers you get the "target unit can't flee this turn". You get to wreck fast cav and it feels great

I did consider that - I sort of like that suicidal single charge dash that a strpot gives you. But you are right, a GW would be more efficient, and cheaper!

I'm betting the farm on rolling for a comet! ;-) It could be utter carnage placing a comet directly in the centre of the warzone... ;-)

Annoyingly I've already built the saurus/spear combo, and my gaming buddies are really into WYSIWYG. I do agree, however - the spear unit isn't complete yet - in the coming month it will be expanded to 30 strong, but I can't field that before the game.

Cheers, I'll see if my gaming buddies will let me proxy sword & board... And yeh I know beasts is probably more useful - but I really want to see if I get lucky and roll a comet! ;-)

There some pretty uptight mates, If we had to remodel everytime we changed things would get hard, what if you wanted egg on your slann one week and an OB next, not to mention he would normally have a GW, but you wanted to give ogre blade a try. As for blocks most comps are simple, the front 2 ranks need whatever you are using. so model half with spears half with S&B so you can change depending on what you want to field. You could drop the items on the priest and a few TG and get a second lvl2, almost guarantees comet. First roll is a 2,4. keep them and then you have like an 80% chance to either roll 5 or a multiple so you can swap for comet. Depends how much you want it I guess :)
There's always tetto'eko, he's only a lvl 2 heavens priest...... with loremaster, reroll ones and reroll comet. Harmless
