i find this list to be the most successful so far and the most consistent heros: Skink Priest with EOG, Lvl 2, and rod of the storm - 415 core: Saurus warriors x20 w/ music and standard, and spears-258 skink skirmishers x 11- 77 special: cold one cavalry x5 with full cmnd, huanchi's blessed totem - 250 total 1000 points definitely the best list i can come up with so far for 1000 points you get a lvl 3 priest with enging, a solid block of warriors which are quite deadly in their own right, very hard hitting cavalry and skinks which also are valuable in capable hands
I see lots of similarities with my own 1000 pts list. Kor'Boq Saurus Scar-Veteran, Light Armour, Shield, Burning Blade of Chotec, Glyph Necklace Goes in the Saurus unit. Tixi'Uxi Skink Priest, Level 2, Diadem of Power 17 Saurus Warriors w/ full command Spears 11 Skink Skirmishers Blowpipes 10 Temple Guards w/ musician and standard bearer 6 Saurus Cold One Cavalry w/ musician and standard bearer Exactly 1000 pts. I decided not to use the EoTG at 1000 pts, fearing I might need the extra punch in my saurus unit from time to time so I got 10 TGs and a Scar-Veteran. That being said, I think your army has lots of potential but can become somewhat predicatable, because of the low unit count (ok I've got 1 more unit but ).
yeah i just like the impact hits caused by the A.steg which on average will be 5 S6 hits, and all of the bonuses conferred by the engine (ie lvl 3 skink & burning alignment...) plus i get a full 20 unit of saurus and huanchi's totem which 99.9% of the time guarantees the charge(+d6" on first charge). i just don't find the temple guardx10 to be effective in smaller units because they always get picked off first and hardly get to combat while the A.steg almost always gets to combat(plus it causes terror). the saurus can hold their own without a hero and they are always great for setting up flank charges in combo with the skinks. plus the stegadon confers a 2+ save to the priest so unless things go horribly wrong he will be around for quite a while.
