Am new to WHFB (and GW products and tabletop gaming and everything for that matter) and am looking to make my first 1k pt list for a local tourney. Am really keen to get a view on my list, to hear where i may be going wrong, and am open to constructive criticism generally! The list has ended up being quite skink heavy, which in hindsight im pretty happy about - let me know what you think: 10x skirmirshers 10x skirmirshers Salamander + handler Salamander + handler 3 Terradons 20 skink + 2 Krox + Music + SB lvl 1 skink priest + tepok Skink chief (blowpipe) + venom of the firefly frog Oldblood + cold one + armor of destiny + halberd --- By my calcs thats 1k points, and i think/hope I have met the 25% caps on each category. The priest is attached to the skrox unit, though can step out for the 3" look out roll or run off depending on the situation and enemy army. The Chief goes with one of the two skirmirsher grps to add some additional firepower with his 6 rerollable poison attacks The oldblood is for use with the terradons to hunt lone chars / warmachines, and to provide some flanking/rear end action. I considered making the priest a scroll carrier, but found it to frustrating to play with just one spell, as it pretty much guarantees I either wont get a spell off, or I'll miscast. The two sallies travel separately, with an additional handler each in case misfire goes wrong. I had considered chameleons over terradons, but am finding that on the reduced sized table tops we're using for the 1k tourney, that camos cant really take advantage of scouting, so prefer to use terradons for march blocking and getting behind enemy lines quicker - less killy, but more utility. One of my worries is the steadfastness of my skrox block, since im forced to make the oldblood my general and he's gonna be running round the flank in all likelihood. I've been told that to win at WHFB, you need to control at least 2 of the 4 phases - hoping that with this list I may have control over the shooting and movement phases, without sacrificing too much on the other two! --- Anyway, keen to hear opinions, what i could do better, what is gonna be my biggest problem ,etc etc Thanks in advance!
I don't know what you are thinking here. The chief only has 3 close combat attacks or 2 shooting attacks, and no re-rolls for anything. Venom is doing basically nothing. If you want more shooting, more skinks is tons better than a skink chief. Almost no matter what you want, something else is better than a skink chief.
I never noticed that about Venom. I still say the chief is not close to being worthwhile, but at least that is interesting.
Thanks for feedback - [edited out a question about skink chief attacks since i googled my own answer...] With the points spare from the chief, would you put it into additional skinks for the skrok unit to aid with steadfastness and actually devliering the krox to their target, or more skirmirshers? Im leaning towards a larger skrox unit, but dont have much experience to base this upon. Finally, any word on the rest of the list? Thanks again!
Yeah i would cut out the skink chief, and possibly also the terradons and instead take more skinks. But good luck
