    Scar-Veteran: 143 pts
Light Armour, Shield, Burning Blade of Chotec, Glyph Necklace
This guy goes with the block of Saurus Warrios, brings some extra punch. Not gonna put him on a Cold One.

    Skink Priest: 100 pts
    Level 2
What, no magic items? He's here to get the occasionnal spell off and try to dispel what he can.

    19 Saurus Warriors w/full command: 258 pts
    Spears
This is the anvil of the army. It will hold it's own against pretty much anything, especially with the Scar-Veteran in there.

    11 Skink Skirmishers : 77 pts
These little fellows are there to harass the ennemy's flank, screen the main force and such, basically do what Skinks Skirmishers do!

    10 Saurus Temple Guards w/full command : 195 pts
This is one head of the hammer. Some people think they are expensive, I think they are wicked cool looking and with a decent armor save and high strength, they can be trouble for units of cavalry or bigger blocks of weak infantry that forget what TGs can do. I intend to use them to guard a flank and possibly flank charge the enemy.

5 Saurus Cold One Cavalry w/full command: 225 pts
The other head of the hammer, these guys have some decent punch and are the most mobile unit of the army. With their good save, good strength and 15 attacks, they can possibly dish some impressive damage if they don't go stupid.

    Total points: 998

4 power dice, 3 dispel dice

I will be testing the army soon against Dark Elves (when my brother next comes to town). I will probably be facing CW soon as well (my younger brother's army). I don't expect any of them to go magic heavy at 1000 pts. Right now, the only other models I have available are 1 Skink Skirmisher and 3 SCoC. As I expand toward 1500 and 2250 pts, I'll be able to field a slightly more flexible army but until then, what do you guys think?

There are many different combos for the Scar-vet, but I think at this point level, Piranha Blade and Enchated Shield work really well. He will then be killing most enemy characters one wound and can really chalk up overkill against champions. Other than that it looks good.

I quite like your army. Probably will try to play something similar. But are you sure about champions in TG and COR units? Especially for 1000pts. Without them, you might have aditional 30 point (ok, a bit more). This means few more saurus, skinks or one COR...

If I had more models, I might replace champions for another unit of skirmishers but I don't have that luxury yet. Still, I think champions are great to challenge enemy heroes and even the extra attack can be worth it. Maybe not an optimal choice but still a viable one in my situation I think.

I understand your "problem". But you can always use a prox in friendly games. Ok, I don't like to play with empty bases standing for my warriors, but it's good when you want to try some lists. I don't know, whether you play WH for some time or you are a beginner. Especially when you are starting an army, its good to try some units by proxing them, before you buy quite expensive models.

I have to say, I tried your list (with some changes, like trying unit of chameleons) against WE. My enemy come with quite unusual army, which consisted from 3 units of wild-riders, 3 units of glade-riders and a hero on eagle. I lose both two games I've played against them. Those damned elves were to fast (marching 18" with fastcav. rules = WTF!). But still I liked that list. I hope I will encounter some slower enemies next time.

Yeah I know I can proxy some units, but it's not as much fun as having the real units in front of you :D. That being said, a very fast list like the one your friend brought would definitly be a problem for the current list. If I had the models, I'd drop the Temple Guards and bring 2 more units of skinks, possibly 3 by dropping the champions here and there. Blowpipes will make short work of low armour, low toughness models :droid: .

As far as my experience goes, I used to play a little back in 5th and 6th edition, kept collecting different armies (so I'm now in possession of CW, HE, VC, DW and EMP models...). But i have yet to try my army of lizards. Will probably do so during the week-end when my older brother brings his DEs.

Temple Guard are definitely not worth it at this point level. Drop em, bring some Terradons or chamo skinks.

If you read my posts carefully, you'll understand why I include them for now :D.
