Hey all, I made this list for a battle with a friend. It is made from almost all the models i own, so any changes are difficult. I will play agains wood elves Scar vet (172) light armour, enchanted shield, charm of the jaguar warrior, sword of might. Sotek, tepok. Skink priest (135) level 2, rod of storm 12 Skinks (72) 12 Skinks (72) 18 Saurus warriors (264) Standard bearer, musician, Quetzl 6 Saurus cavalry (280) Standard, musician, Huanchi's banner total pts: 1000 What do you think of it? i have some extra saurus warriors and cavalry if needed.
Well, if your friend will use a list of Wood Elves that uses magic, im pretty sure that you should leave your skink priest level 1, and put 2 dispel scrolls on him... Consequently you can raise your saurus unit to 20 models... If you have the models, use 3 units of 10 skinks, maybe one of this units with scouts I think is best changes...
Hey, nice list forming....heres what i would change. -Scrap 1 of the saurus cav so you can make the saurus unit of 19 -Scrap the Quetzl spawn for Huanchi (explain in a bit) -I agree with previous post on the mage -Scrap Tepok for Huanchi - Cut back 2 skinks per unit and make scouts (wood elves hate it when they dont deploy in thier "free" forest - Think about the blessed banner of Huanchi (+ d6 movement in magic phase) this is good for catching people out like woodelves that flee as charge reaction. The Trick is to look like your going for one unit, then move a full march to within 1" of intended unit and use the banner (this way it works automatically and no failed charges) Other than that (lol) have fun.
yeah that is how I was planning to use the banner. But why should i take huanchi on my saurus warriors and scar vet?? It is not very nice to move through "wood elves enhanched" wood. and on the magic thing, I dont know if he is going to use much magic. it is his first battle with WE so i dont have a clue what he is going to use. It will also be my first battle agains WE so do you have any tips?? P.S. Should I give my skinks blowpipes or javelins?
Huanchi makes it so your saurus can move through woods and jungle. This simply means that your wood elf opponent can't just hide in a forest - making your saurus a waste of points. It just means your opponent cant hide in woods. Also a trick with huanchi units is to move into a forest and (im assuming that you mark out the wooded areas) have it so the unit is partially in the woods but with at least 1 model each side of the unit within 2" of the woods. This means (perhapse not against this particular enemy) you can launch attacks out of woods while an opponent has to charge towards the center of the unit meaning they lose movment - basically you suck people in, they fail charge then you go in next turn and do what saurus do best. Tips for against WE: - Dont underestimate the power of glade bows (Str 4 at short range) use skinks to cover the saurus (thats why a 3rd unit of them may be the way. -If the WE players smart he's/she's taken Dryads (nasty things with str/T 4 and a 5+ ward vs NON-MAGIC (capitals as you use your wizard to kill these) - Your skinks are probably going to need LD so id play very close and in a way that all your units are supported -WE are tricky and tough to get into combat but once in combat there are only a few specialised combat troops
Yeah i know of the dryads. Once played against a full dryad/treeman army on a 750 pts team tournamen. So that were 2 treemen and a LOT of dryads I wont forget that for a long long time... thanks for the nasty forest trick! I am going to try that out. Thanks for all the help you gave me also!
The only thing I will caution you on with the Huanchi saurus is Treesinging. It's the default spell for Wood Elf wizards and it can either move forests directly into your path (hardly a concern for the Huanchi saurus) Or it can hit you with D6 St 5 hits for any unit in the woods piece the spell is cast on. So while you can pass through the trees without issue, you'll need to make sure you're not still in said woods after your moves/attacks.
