We're still learning so if you see anything that couldn't have happened please let me know. My List 2 x Salamanders + xtra snack 7 chamo skinks skink priest + plaque of Tepok + dispell scroll 20 Saurus w command Scar vet + golden sigil sword + light armour 10 skink skirmishers 1 Stegadon His list 1 liche mage 14 x archers 20 x archers w musician 4 Ushabti 2 x skull catapults 3 chariots I deployed the saurus block in the centre with salamanders on the left flank. Skirmishers were slightly ahead and to the right with the steg in behind. He deployed the archers on other side of the Ushabti with the catapults on a hill in behind. Chariots were to the right of the right archers. I the deployed the chamos in behind the larger archer block 12" from one of the catapults. He went first and it was a total bloodbath. Actually magic went really well. I let the movement spell go and he used it to move the smaller block of archers up to be in range of the skirmishers. He then failed desiccation and I managed to dispel the fireball spell. Then it got ugly Archer block executed a swift reform and shot the crap out of my chamo skinks. Took out 4. The first catapult landed a direct hit on the Steg taking out 2 handlers and 3 wounds on the steg. Both the chariots and the small block fired on the salamanders and killed one. Ushabti took another wound off the Steg. Skirmishers and saurus untouched. My first turn. Marched the saurus and the skirmishers. Moved the Steg and remaining sally up. Comet was dispelled and nothing was in range of the hex so magic was a non event. Threw six dice at the comet, risking a miscast. Rolled a 6,3,2,1,1,1. Awesome. 3 chamos fired on catapult but only 1 wound. Steg shot at catapult and missed. Sally fired at archers. I needed an 8 to catch the front edge and a 10 to hit more than 2 models. In hindsight, I should have marched both the stag and sally since shooting was a waste. His 2nd turn Things got a little better but not great. Chariots moved up as they were on edge of charge range on the sally. I let the augment spell go through. I dispelled the desiccation and the fireball failed. Archer shot at the chamos killing 2 more. Both catapults missed badly. Chariots fired on sally, a couple of hits but no wounds. Smaller archer block shot at skirmishers, 1 kill. Ushabti fired at Steg. I rolled valiantly but suffered the last wound So to recap, I'm down 6 chamos, 1 steg, 1 sally, 1 skirmisher at this point. He's lost one handler on the catapult. Not great. My turn Marched the saurus. Turned the sally to face the chariots. Moved up the skirmishers on the archer block. Threw 4 dice at the hex spell. Miscast. I didn't roll a single 6 on the chamo skinks or on any scaly skin save but threw 2 on the hex spell. Why not the comet spell at least? Miscast result dropped skink priest to zero. 1 lonely chamo fired and hit the catapult twice but failed to wound. Skirmishers fired on large archer block, killing 4. Sally hit chariots but failed to wound. His turn 3. Chariots charged the sally, 7 impact hits, all on the salamander. Squish. Large archer block turned and fired on skirmishers killing 4. Small archer block killed another 2. Both catapults fired at saurus, one missed badly, one direct hit, taking out 3 saurus. Ushabti fire on saurus but no wounds. My turn. Saurus charge the Ushabti. I wanted to charge the archer block with the hierophant but I need to roll a nine. Figured it wasn't worth the risk as not getting into close combat meant lights out guaranteed. Remaining skirmishers kill another archer. Chamo misses. Scar vet kills one Ushabti. Ushabti then kill 3 saurus. Saurus block rolls pathetically and only scores 1 wound wound. I win close combat 6-3 which takes out another Ushabti. His turn. Small archer block charges the saurus from the side. I end up winning the close combat again but lost another 4 saurus so there wasn't any points in continuing. Just dismal. With the archer range and how slow the saurus were, it took me 3 turns to engage and by that time I was so thinned out. The first direct hit on the steg was critical.
no worries man, tomb kings are brutal at 1000 points. also if you bring a steg at 1000 vs tomb kings your gonna have a bad time XD, trust me its happened to me. A good report though, may your next battle go much better for the forces of lustria cheers
Nice report mate, Ive got a few hints and critisims to help you out though. Firstly, I'm afraid you can't take both the dispel scroll AND the plaque of tepok on your priest as each charvter can only have one item from each category. Secondly, salamanders CAN march and fire, as they are skirmishers, which is fantastic. Also when his archers shot your chameleon skinks he should have taken a -3 penalty to his ballistic skill (long range, skirmishers, chameleon), tomb guard have ballistic skill 3, so would be hittting your chamo skinks on 7s, but still you managed to lose four! The chamo skinks should have been able to destroy both catapults if they werent massacred! I would also reccomend terradons, either to take out his catapults or just tie up the arcgers from turn one so he cant shoot the crap out of everything!
About tomb kings shooting, they NEVER take penalty from ANYTHING! That's why they are brutal to our chameleon skinks, cus it ignores them being chameleon and skirmishers.. Stupid arrows of asph...
On the Saurus vs. Ushabti fight, did he tell you they have Great Weapons? They REPLACE Great Weapons for Bows, not get both. You should have won that fight. He probably had them in a Line, that way he can shoot with them, which means you'd get a +3 rank bonus, and a bonus for charging, and for having a banner. That's a static of +5. At almost the same stat line, you'd deal an average of 4-6 wounds with all your attacks, which would put you in the win. He takes wounds from Combat Resolution. You should have wiped that unit in one turn of combat unless you rolled horrendously.
Wow that is insane! No one at my local GW plays Tomb Kings so I was basing my knowledge off BRB stats
Looks like bad luck more than anything. And your list could have been a little better suited vs tomb kings. But I think if that comet went off the game would have been reversed. He cant march and has a lot of tiny units.
No, he did say they had great bows and regular hand weapons. However, I only took +2 from bonuses. It was 4 wounds to 3 (he rolled well and I did not) but I only added +2. +5 would have taken out another Ushabti. Still one left but would have made a difference the next round for sure.
