Hello all, Many, many moons ago the folks on the board here were helpful enough to help me come up with an 800 point list for my Lizardmen force http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/800-points-8th-ed-help-needed.6756/. For over a year now that force has languished in a carry case and seen no use adn this yaer I'd like to try and rectify it (and paint it as well!). To do this I need to design myself a 1000 point list and a 2000 point list and I thnk I've almost done it but I'd like some opinions and helpp choosing and arming characters for the lists. My 1000 point list looks as follows so far: 15 Saurus - 210 Spears, Full command 15 Saurus - 210 Spears, Full command 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Blowpipe 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Blowpipe 6 Chameleon Skinks - 72 Salamander - 75 Salamander - 75 This brings me to a total of 782, leaving me with 218 points to use on characters and further unit upgrades. In my 800 point list I was running a Scar Vet and a Skink priest and if I could do the same again I'd feel happy and comfortable with the list - does anyone have any idea's how to arm them so they fill the points out and remain as competitive as possible? I also know that spears aren't the most tactically brilliant choice, but the models have them and I like the look of them so I'd like to stick with them if possible. My idea for a 2000 point list builds on the units above and adds a few extras to the mix. I know of one character I want to use at this points level, a Slann, so I've added that into the list below. 2000 Points Slann Mage Priest - 275 Need help with upgrades 24 Saurus - 318 Spears, Full Command 24 Saurus - 318 Spears, Full Command 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Blowpipe 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Blowpipe 24 Temple Guard - 419 Full Command 6 Chameleon Skinks - 72 Salamander - 75 Salamander - 75 This brings me out to a total of 1702, leaving me with 298 points with which to equip my Slann, purchase any other characters and decide if the temple guard need any upgrades in the form of magic items on the champ/standard? Can anyone advise me again on this as I'd much appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance. Dan
Re: 1000pt/2000pt lists. Units sorted need help with charact I think spears on Saurus is generally bad, but they have absolutely no point at size 15 - you will never get all the spear attacks because guys will die before swinging. I would do a block of 20+ and spend points on something else. In the 2000 point list, I think the size 24 blocks are also too small, mainly because you cannot properly buff all three units.
Re: 1000pt/2000pt lists. Units sorted need help with charact For the 1k list: Indeed. Not that spears are terrible, but if you are running spears on this many Saurus you ought to just put them into one unit. It's pretty important to keep at least 3 ranks so you are able to maximize their effectiveness in combat. Two units of 20 would be good, but then you are cutting out some other stuff. Double Sallies will be devastating at 1k. As for characters, A Scar-vet and a Priest are good options. I would use: Skink Priest Dispel Scroll Scar-Vet Crown of Command (makes for a good surprise) Venom of the Firefly Frog Charmed Shield Light Armor These guys come to 230. Combining the two Saurus units would net you these points pretty easy since you would have to drop the command models of one. Any leftover could be used to get some extra handlers, purchase javelins, or maybe get a cheap armor piece for the Priest. For the 2k list: This might be nitpicking or OCD, but 24 TG with a Slann won't rank up very nicely unless you go 7-wide, and that's just a weird number. Slann would be good with Light in this list. Here's a fairly light version I would consider: Slann Rumination BSB Warbanner Cupped Hands Puts the Slann at 370 total, or 95 points of gear. That leaves you with just enough for a Scar-vet Cowboy (coming in around 160) and some goodies for the TG like the ironcurse icon. You could also put the Warbanner on the TG and give the Slann the Standard of Discipline. Not a bad combo. Scar-Vet builds: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/lone-cowboy-scar-veteran.8881/ Ejpok mentions the two most common ones. Good luck! Hope you get to use them this year.
