Its an open tournament, one day event with little extra rules. No special characters, time limit on games, terrain is pre-set but scatters just before troop deployment. Scar vet, L.A, Cold one, G.W, VotFFF Scar vet, L.A, Cold one, G.W, Charmed shield 10 cohort skinks 10 skirmishers 10 skirmishers 11 skirmishers 7 camo skinks 7 camo skinks 3 terradons 2 salamanders 1 razordon Im not 100% happy on the scar vet layout. Im not sure whether to keep the two units of camo skinks or have two units of terradons instead, I loose (consistent) damage output but gain movement, redirect ability and point denial.
Or this could be better: Scar vet, cold one, LA, charmed shield, dawnstone, burning blade 10 cohort skinks 10 skirmishers 10 skirmishers 10 skirmishers 7 camo skinks 7 camo skinks 3 terradons 3 terradons 2 salamanders 1 razordon
i like it. obviously it will be just a little tricky to make sure that any of your opponents harder hitting units wont just crush one or two of your own. overall i think you will do better with the second list there.
I like it too, but just because skirmishing armies can be very fun to play I just have two problems with the list (they're very obvious so I'm sure you've thought them through): 1) No magic. I (personally) would always take at a minimum a level 1 skink priest, if for no other reason than to give him a dispel scroll. Not having any wizards will leave you quite vulnerable to magic. 2) No melee troops. Whilst you should do fine against some armies (ogres) others will be much harder to defeat if you don't have a half-decent anvil unit (thinking of brettonians in particular). I like taking a list similar to yours but always have about 20 saurus to join combat in the 2nd half of the game (after my skirmishers have done their work ) Having said that, I wish you luck!
The no magic is something i have been thinking about, a lvl 1 with scroll was considered but its just not worth the effort, esp with lizardmen in my mind. I can use my dice wisely to shut down the spells that are really bad, in a way im kinda hoping people will be loading up on magic as it means a quarter of their points is wasted. Combat does not bother me, I am the one who is is going to be dictating where they happen. Thats is if I decide to give the enemy a charge.
I think you'll be okay at 1000 without magic. It was something I basically did in one game as my skink priest got ran off in like the first turn. So I then just had to choose wisely when/what to dispel. My one thought would be to remove the razodon for something else. I'm not really impressed with them. Other than that, I think as long as you can outmaneuver your opponent you should be good.
I dont think the magic will be a problem unless someone goes overboard with it and in the situation a priest would be little help anyway. I will be interested to see if the other players bring magic or dont bother.
