last week played my first game with the new lizzy book.
1000pts against vampire counts.
just made a quick list.
1 scar vet
17 saurus with spears
16 skinks
3 terradons
3 kroxigors
1 stegadon + EotG
opponent had 2 vampires
unit skellies
unit zombies
dire wolves
corpsecart
skelly cavalry
first 2 turns was mostly maneuvering into position and him raising dead things.
turn 3 he charged my stegadon but did no damage.
my turn 3 i managed to kill 4 of his cavalry, 2 in cc and 2 with the engine.
also managed to kill some skellies with my skinks.
from that moment on i finally started to roll properly on my dispell dice rolls and stopping him raising to much skeletons and zombies.
and i got my kroxigors in CC, where they remained for the rest of the game, holding up 2 to 3 small units, much to his annoyance that the kroxigors didn't run or die
the stegadon managed to kill the cavalrist, and then through charge and burning alignement all but 1 wolf.
love the engine as it is now, burning alignement managed to score a good number of kills.
also his tactic of trying to swarm me with zombies and skellies failed to the fact that i managed to block most of his spells (unheard of, i know LOL)
in the end my skinks broke his skellies and every thing i had jumped on his last block of skellies with both vamps and fought to a stand still.
in the end i lost no full units, but was left with 1 terradon, 1 kroxigor, 15 saurus and scar vet, stegadon and a handfull of skinks. so altogether a very rewarding game and a lot of fun.
eventhough i completly forgot that he had to take terror test against my stegadon, something i will not forget next time.
so very happy with the outcome.
