Hi, me and my friends will soon start a campaign with armies that are 1200 points. Since we have som new gamers in our group we agreed on not having a level 4 wizard. My possible enemies could be: Beastmen, Dwarves, High elves, Orcs & Goblins, Empire and Dark elves. I think that the list I've come up with this far will be a fun list to play but it might not do well against stuff like Demigryphs or Dragon Ogres (the Beastmen player is allowed to use them) so it would be nice with some feedback on possible tweaks. Lords (245) Oldblood *Cold one *Great weapon *Light armour *Talisman of preservation *The other tricksters shard Heroes (249) Scar-Veteran *BSB *Shield *Armour of destiny Skink Priest (Lore of Beasts) *Dispel scroll Core (504) 24 Saurus Warriors *Full command 10 Skink Skirmishers *javelin 10 Skink Skirmishers *javelin 10 Skink Skirmishers *javelin Special 3 Ripperdactyl Rare Salamander Total: 1198 points. The idea is to have the BSB in the block of Saurus Warriors and the Skink Priest in one of the Skirmish units, buffing the Saurus with Wyssans when it's needed and for dispelling enemy magic. I'm planning on running my Oldblood solo but this could be risky since it might draw alot of cannonfire. What do you think of this list and do you have any thoughts on how I can improve it?
Looking over your list I don't really see anything that jumps out at me. Should do fair against most armies, but i think you'll find the Saurus to be a little lacking without any support. Just keep that Old Blood nearby and they should be ok. Good luck! For things like Demigryphs and Dragon Ogres you can kit out your OB a little better. The Piranha Blade + Potion of Strength combo is pretty mean for those multi-wound units. Can't go wrong with a GW though.
Totally agree with you I'm thinking of dropping the rippers and buffing the saurus to 30. I also like your idea with the OB, haven't tried him with that setup but sounds interesting!
