Ok guys, This is my normal 'combat' list I use in my games. I was wondering how you guys thought on it. Here it goes: Scar-vet-Cold one-Light Armor-Shield Scar-vet-Cold one-Light armor-BSB-Enchanted shield 15 Saurrii-St-Mu-Spears 15 Saurii-St-Mu-Spears 10 skink skirmishers 10 skink skirmishers 10 skinks 6 chameleon skinks 4 Terradons 1x Salamander w/extra handler This is 1126 points, leaving me with 124 to play with. This list is as naked as I would play it. Usually, I add some magical weapons to my heroes, and some more bodies to the Saurii. 15 Saurrii is ideal for me, but; more bodies is never worse. In pretty much any case. 124 points could be another Skrox unit, 11/1 with musician. But I'm not so sure about that. The amount of support in this army is well...large I like it that way. I only miss real hammers. But my blocks/heroes do the heavy work. The skinks simply set it up. A SCOR unit is out of the question, that brings 3 stupidity tests a turn (2 ifyou put a hero in them). But that's just too much IMO. Also, I do not own a Stegadon. In fact, I still have to proxy a LOT... So, if anyone could help me/make a pointer/anything else. Do so! Thanks in advance, The Hunted
First of all is there a reason for having 10 ordinary skinks instead of skirmishers, then i would make one of the saurus into 16x3 unless you really don't want to because you get a few more attacks. I'm not a big fan of SKrox units tbh. you could make your chameleons into a unit of ten. The scar veteran who has the LA + Shield could have the BBoC and replace his shield with either tMS or the SotMP and the other one could have either of the magic shields either the SotMP or tMS depending wether its a magical army you are fighting or a melee. That makes your army up to 1252. Hope this helps
-10 skinks have their uses over their skirmishing counterparts. I use them to great effect. Flanking, redirecting and a surprise war machine hunter. It works. -As I said, I usually upgrade the saurii to above 15 models. I don't run them 6x3 all the time though, I like the way 5x4 feels. On top of that, my heroes are not always inside my units; so I still get a lot of attacks. -Skrox isn't my favorite unit either, but I pull them out once every while for fun. And they do quite ok. -My item selection on the scar-vets changes. ES+BBoC on the BSB is usually there. And the general has haad the VotFFF, the SoSR, maiming shield, Shield of the Mirrored pool, Sword of Might and pretty much every item he can have...Depending on my mood really. -My chameleons will not go up to 10; 6 are disposable. 6 can be hidden better for scouting. And 10 don't add anything bar some shots. It's been a while since I've played a game though...it's about time! The Hunted
I could, but it won't change from the list on top. as described there; it's the naked list I play. I will add things depending on my opponent and my mood. So if I feel like using a unit of Skrox; the scar-vets will have less equipment. If I want powerfull heroes; no skrox and less saurii... It's those last points that allow me to play with the list a little, but the core of the army always remains the same. As does it's playing style. The Hunted
Looks like quite a good list, relatively similar to what I use except for some of the skink units. Not really much I can say, except for the fact I really like the list. One thing I am concerned about is your lack of magic defense. Without a scroll, or even another wizard your two dispel dice can be limiting. Many armies can pump out a strong magic phase even at this point level, I know when I played DE I got across two spells a turn no problem. Your list looks like it has enough bodies to limit that and if it works than that is fine, but I am just a little worried about you going against a list with good magic and having nothing to stop it. (And if you are looking for a game, hop over to Lorenz. I will be more than happy to play you there. )
Glad you like the list! And for magic defense; true. But then again, I like to mage hunt! So having no real magic defence, it really forces me to go after those dreaded schmancy-magic users... Scar-vets, Terradons, skinks, Skrox (if present), Salamander; they can all do it. And I'm not afraid to try and do it! Also, if I really were afraid of magic (or I knew my opponent would go for a magic-heavy army) I could use those last points for a caddy! Usually though, I prefer numbers+mage hunt to survive. And it works pretty well for me. I'm considering Lorenz, because I don't get to play thát often...untill now, it's still considerations, because I don't know how much time I will have to play Lorenz! Well, it is only $7 dollars for life, so I find that it works if I want to get a game in once a week. I know I will be using it more often come summertime, so it was definitely a worth while investment.
Dollars...lol... Euros! That's what counts! No offense, ofcourse. I watched a game in the 'test' thingy, and it seemed to work ok. How long does a battle takes you? (1k, 1,5k and/or 2k, if you have the time to type this ) The Hunted
I believe it is only 5 euros then. For 1.5K games it probably takes me about 2.5 to 3 hours. For 2.25K games it takes me a little longer, probably 3 to 3.5 hours. Once you understand how the system works, everything becomes a lot faster, so some of the games I play tend to go fairly quickly.
