Hey, so, I'll get straight to it. If you've not read my intro post, basically friends just started playing, digging out my LM, yadda-ya. We tend to play 1250 point games, which I'll be regularly facing off against, in no particular order: dwarves, dark elves, wood elves and skaven. I came up with a, in my opinion, fairly straight forward list. Looking for some tips, alternate choices I could make, things that I could do different, etc. So, rambling aside: Scar Vet, GW, LA, Shield, CO, Dawnstone Scar Vet, BSB, Shield, GW, Standard of Discipline Skink Priest, lv1, scroll Skink Priest, lv2, cube 25 Saurus, Full command (Not sure if these should be H/W, shield, or spears?) 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 6 Chameleon Skinks Salamander Pack, with extra snack Salamander Pack, with extra snack
Personally, I'd drop the shields on the cowboys and replace with light armour on the second. They can't use shields in combat while the light armour gives the same benefit all the time. Better still would be to drop both and take, say Armour of Destiny etc which would give one cowboy a 1+/4++ save and take something similar on the other, but I guess the points would be hard to find. Also, you appear to be way over the basic core tax, but do understand why. Good luck in the games!
Overall, I think it looks solid. Your scar-veterans will do a lot of work in this list. I would even considering mounting up the BSB, having a cowboy is just amazing at 1250 points. They can go toe to toe with...well a lot of things that you can face. And having the mobility/flexibility is great. For magic; I would drop a skink priest. You have the edge in combat (character-wise at least) with your scar-veterans, I would just make sure I don't get owned in the magic phase with a single priest + scroll/cube. Saurus warriors HW/S or Spears...vs the opponents you are facing; I think HW/S will be slightly better. You will go through T3 infantry pretty well with saurus anyway, and the shields will help you if you are facing elite elven infantry. The dwarves are very tough, but even spears don't help against them. Expect casualties on the way in vs all of your opponents, so you might not even benefit from the extra rank for too long in combat. Anyway, this is just my view on things. Maybe you agree or disagree; but field what yóu think is best. And most importantly: have fun! The Hunted
