8th Ed. 1250 pt club tournament

    So our local club is puttiing on their end of the year tournament. It is isn't a big point tournament with only 1250 pts. So here is my go at what I am bringing to the mix.

    Scar-Vet/ Bane Head/ Gamblers Armour/ Enchanted Shield/ Warrior Bane { He should give some concern since he is doubling your unsaved wounds and taking an attack away from you at the same time. Also with his 1+ sv and 6+ WS he is a bit of threat }

    Skink Priest/ Lvl 2/ Ring of Ruin/ Cloak of Feathers { Fly and cast, and with the ring I get a bound spell of fire balls, Nice}

    29 Saurus Warriors/ FC ( Scar -vet goes here)

    30 Saurus Warriors/ FC

    10 Skink Skirmishers/ Blowpipes ( Skink priest goes here)

    6 Chameleon Skinks/ Brave ( my war machine hunters)

    Salamander Hunting pack/ + 3 xtra handlers ( for the bad rolling attempts)



    Anyways, this is my list. I think it is solid enough at 1250 pts. The tournament is this Sunday and I will let you know how they do. If you guys have any coaching tips that have worked for you in the past on such a small force. I would be appreciative of it. I usually only play 2250 and greater. Plus I am not used to not having a slann, an engine, or a carnosaur. I feel naked without having atleast one of them there.

    I guess one of the questions I was going to ask . What should I run the Saurus in 6X5 or 5X6?

    change to shield bane head and the heavy armour 5+ wardsave as you cannot have 2 magic armours wich you have now the e-shield and gamblers armour

    he is going to die can it be said more precise? instead take lvl 1 and diadem of power for protection as your offense wont be that good anyway

    take away 3

    take away 4 26 is plenty 30 is good but the salamander is just better

    dont take brave its stupid

    you cant have 3 ad handlers only one but dont take any!

    and use your last points on 2 salamanders

    Thanks. I am using that flying little skink priest as a deverter. I know he isn't big and cheesy but he still has a bit of a bite to him. Why are you asking me to go 26 on my saurus? What rankings were you thinking? Also I did realize I had 2 magic armour items so I figured that I would just add that shield. But now I am planning on using warrior bane as well. It will take some of those attacks from those characters along with doubling their wounds. I tried to get another salamander in my force, but I need some units to run some of the objectives and in this larea people target all my lizard beast including salamanders. I know braves are awful but I needed to throw some points in somewhere. I think I can run a good battle or 4 with this list. Again thanks for your thoughts. Although you have 5 wins and a loss. If you were forced to play this list how would you run it?

    I think he might be telling you to get rid of bits here and there to skim points for an extra salamander.

    As is stated you can only upgrade to 1 extra handler.

    I think there is no point taking bane head on a Scar vetran who is on foot. The reason being that you have to nominate it at the start of the game and they will just make sure they avoid the scar vetran which is 15 points down the drain.

    The only effective way to run banehead IMO is on a cold one to try and get to that character.

    The skink priest with cube of darkness is my set-up i prefer. Dispel scroll is always useful (especially with no +4 from slann) then for an additional 15 points you have a 50/50 chance of ending there magic phase... yes please. Wait until they roll big then do it on the first spell they cast.

    You dont have anything really in your army to deal with something big or tooled out like a giant or something 10 skinks just arn't enough to bring it down especially if they take light arms fire.

    I would perhaps look at either a unit of SKrox for that with some magic on them. Or maybe even try and fit a stegadon to counter-deploy them with.
