Hi lustrian friends, I'm in a little friendly weekly tournament with some friends where we use an accorded amount of point between 1500 and 2000 to fight. The armies are Orcs, Skaven, High Elves, Empire and Dwarfs. I'm kinda new to lizardmen and don't have that much choices and I love CoR and slann. This time I have to fight against Dwarfs, he pretty much uses 2 copters and 2 cannons (normally an organ and a traditional), a unit of warriors and hammerers support, this time and was thinking about fielding this: Slann Mage-Priest Lore of Light Focus of Mystery , Harmonic Convergence, Soul of Stone, Channeling Staff Saurus Scar-Veteran Battle Standard Bearer, Halberd Cold One, Armour of Destiny Saurus Scar-Veteran Halberd, Light Armour, Cold One, Dragonbane, Glittering Scales, Ironcurse Icon Skink Priest Lore of Beasts Skink Priest Lore of Heavens Core 24 x Saurus Warriors FC 10 x Skink Skirmishers Jav and Shield 10 x Skink Skirmishers Jav and Shield 10 x Skink Skirmishers Jav and Shield Special 7x Chameleon Skink 6x Chameleon Skink 8x Cold One Riders FC Sits me around 1798 points, I think I have enough to protect my slann and enough choices to take off the board his cannons, any suggestions? Models I can also field are some Ripper/terradon (havent build them yet), an ancient stegadon with bigpipes, more skinks and warriors and 3 kroxigors. I fielded a similar list (without a slann) agains Empire and worked pretty good!, I won only losing my skinks and priests, and killed his cannon, swordmans, greatswordsmans and state troops (lucky to me I distracted his Demigryphs 6 turns only fighting skinks). Thank guys for any suggestion, criticism or ideas.
I think you've got some good choices in there, If there is one very general thing I'd comment on it is that you are only really fielding 2 threats or hammers on the board. For this point bracket I would probably try to get that number up to around 3-4, that should give you a better attacking strategy in terms of flanking, combo charging and streching your opponents defense. The Stegadon, Krox, Rippers or even another Saurus unit might be options to consider in this role.
Yeah that sounds right I have too few threats. I'm thinking about dropping some upgrades and add a 3x ripper squad. Something like Slann with only channel combo, just 2x 5 chams and only 7 CoR gives me enough points to run that Ripper squad, Does it sound like a good option?. Thanks!
Slimming down the Slann a bit sounds like a good idea. The channeling stuff is nice, but at this level of points it is by no means mandatory. I would probably also consider dropping a Skink Priest. Keeping your Cold Ones and Scar-Vets as strong as possibly would be a good idea I think, and usually 6+ is what you want for Chameleons.
