Since I'm in a campaign I won quite some nice battles with my 6th ed list. But now I have to "update my list to 7th ed". But now my shooty list I had in 6th ed is no more... no more skink scouts.. no more superpowerfull sallies.. So I'm gonna change my style to something more Close Combat orientated as it seems like that is what GW wants us to do.... I thoughts of terradons but they just seem too useless in closecombat, can't take any archer unit like they could before :'( Here it comes (1500pts) Scar-Vet LA, Ench shield Sword of Might Cold One 165 Skink Priest lvl 2 Cube of Darkness 140 Skink Priest lvl2 Rod of Storms Dispell Scroll 150 15x Saurus Musician, Banner Spears 198 15x Saurus Musician, Banner Spears 198 10x skink skirmishers 70 5x Cold One Riders Musician Huanchi Banner 230 6x Chameleons 72 Ancient Stegadon 275 1498 The general idea would be that both saurus blocks march towards the enemy and act as an anvill and both the CoR+Scar-Vet with Steggie act as Hammer units. While the Chams and skinks harras the enemy, redirect charges if possible or go warmachine or wizard hunting. So what you guys think? Does this seem like a list that can take diffrent warhammer races ?
I read through the grape vine that saurus get their two attacks when attacking with spears from the second rank. not sure if that is the case (prolly not) but they are no longer predatory fighters. But any way...reason I bring that up, you might try fielding the saurus with spears just to get those extra attacks in. Your already used to the 4+ save so that wont be any different. Other than that, it looks pretty solid. Nice balance between fear and terror, with some magic.
It looks pretty good. I would HEAVILY suggest taking an Engine. Those suckers are amazing at keeping your saurus protected from shooty armies like Elves, Dwarves, Skaven, or the Empire so that the Saurus can get right up in there with all their ranks, AND the engine allows you to blast opponents with High armor saves that can beat saurus like special Chaos Warriors or Knights to hell and back again.
An EoTG is easily 440pts.. and if I would field it I'm sure the opponent would try his best to bring it down as fast as possible. And an engine isn't as good in close combat as an ancient. They just have to challenge the skink priest with a champion and he is dead. I will concentrate my magic on the enemy ranged units to protect my saurus that is why I picked 2 priests instead of one on an EoTG.
