8th Ed. 1500 friendly tournament

    Here is a list that i created for a friendly 1500 point tournament me and my friends are having. Looking for pointers and help with it, im fairly new to warhammer and i have only played like 5 games total.
    Yes i know saurus are not that good but i only have 12 skinks total and 33 saurus until i get my ordered skink regiment, so thats what i can pretty much roll with.

    Lord:
    -Slann Mage-Priest life
    BSB, Standard of discipline, Dispel Scroll
    Total: 365


    Heroes:
    -Skink Priest lvl 1 beast
    -Scar-vet Cowboy
    GW, Armor of destiny, mounted (cold one)
    -Scar-vet
    Sword of might, Enchanted shield, Dawnstone, Light armor
    Total: 355

    Core:
    -10 skink skirmishers Lustria javelins and shields
    -26 saurus warriors Musician/Banner Hand weapons
    Total: 376

    Special:
    -11 Temple Guards Musician/Banner
    -4 Cold One Riders Musician/Banner
    Total: 440

    Rare:
    Salamander Hunting Pack + extra handeler
    Total: 84

    Total: 1496

    Also anyone have any ideas what to do with the last 4 points?

    can you take Cold ones with as few as 4? I thought they come as 5+ I dont have my codex to check sorry :(

    Im not sure if i am allowed to take 4 cold ones + cowboy, i might need one more cold one rider.

    Running one scar-vet inside the saurus block
    TG with slann

    Im not sure about the TG unit.

    Im not familiar with 1500 limits my games are normally 3k+, are you allowed special characters?

    If so why not take teto for your magic free up alot of space maybe take an oldblood? Do you know what other armies are in the tournament?

    Getting a basti with the solar may be a good choice? Terror at this level could prove very useful! :)

    At 1500 pt's the slann is sort of all or nothing; that being said I think you'll find that becalming cogitation will be more useful to you than a scroll over the course of the game although I would take both. The unit size for COR is 5, so I would drop them and put in more temple guard. Using a life slann you'll want more guys in your bunker. I'd Also reduce your saurus to 20 to fit in another unit of skirmishers. That'd help you spend the extra 4 points because the saurs cost will be reduced by 66. So if by dropping the COR you can bulk up your TG and fit in a scroll, becalming cogitation and an ironcurse icon (Best 5pts in the game) I think it'd be looking pretty good at 1500 pts. I'm still not sold on beasts priests though... They just steal dice from your slann. Heavens signature is much more useful to shut down warmachines and make you harde to hit in combat or BS shooting; and there is always the chance you'll roll a comet.

    The other option would be to go more combat oriented and drop the slann in which case a bastilladon is very good at this points level and you can fit yoor riders with a couple of cowboys. If you go that route a ruby ring is also good for some magic flexibility. Best of luck to you.
