I'm new to fantasy, so constructive criticism and suggestions would be great.

    Lizardmen, 1500 pts

Slann: Higher State of Conciousness, Focused Rumination, Obsidian Amulet, Plaque of Tepok, Lore of Light

Saurus Scar-Vet: (Lone ranger) Cold One, Glittering Scales, Dawnstone, Great Weapon, Shield
Skink Priest: Level 2, Staff of the lost Sun, Channeling staff (is this +1 channeling for just him or for both him and Slann?)

Saurus x 30 Full command: horde formation, hopefully Slann will buff them with Light spells
    Skink skirmishers x10
    Skink skirmishers x10

    Kroxigor x3

    Salamander x2 with 6 skinks

So the plan here is to have the Saurus block supported by the slann take one side of the battle. The other half of the board will have skinks pestering people, running away if charged to redirect the charge into the kroxigors, who will be helped out with the skink priest spells from lore of heavens.

Do you think this will work?

Looks like a good list. The channeling will add to your dice pool, so it works for any of your wizards.

Be careful with your krox though. Keep them going after cavalry or other small units like archers or skirmishers.

Your divide and conquer idea may have some hiccups as well. I'd keep my fighting blocks closer together and have them work in tandem with your salamanders. Let us know how it goes!

I would also suggest considering keeping your troops close together. That will let you use the area of effect extended buff spells to maximum effect.
