Hello Is it possible to have a shooty army with Lizardmen? For some time now I have been playing around in army builder and come up with the following. It still seems a bit of a rough draft and I would appreciate your views to refine it. Some day I would like to surprise my usual opponent with this. ********** Scar Vet, Light Armor, AHW, Dragonstone, Cold One [General] Scar Vet, Light Armor, AHW, Cold One Shammy, Lev 2, Diadem of Power ********** 10 Skirmishers 10 Skirmishers 10 Skirmishers 10 Skirmishers 10 Skirmishers 10 Skirmishers ********** 5 CoC, Muscician, Standard [both Scar Vets in here] 6 Chameleon Skinks 6 Chamelein Skinks ********** 2 Sallies 2 Razardons 1 Sallie or Razardon ********** 1502 pts The mechanic behind it would be to cover the center with shooting and redirecting. Move up the COC on a flank to roll up his army from one side. The Diadem of Power would help to reduce the pain during the opponent's magic phase. Note on the Scar Vets: Additional Hand Weapons to help with Combat Rez (10 Attacks just from those 2). They Still have a 2+ AS and are protected in a unit. I think it does more than have just one that's a bit tooled up. Carnivorous out
Interesting build. Haven't played one like it, so can't say for sure, but my initial thoughts were: - Tarpit your CoC, and the enemy will roll through your list, 70 points at a time - Your general seems pretty vulnerable. In fact, that whole unit looks pretty vulnerable. Any half-decent elite unit will destroy that unit, especially considering you've got no support for it whatsoever. Someone with more experience than me will probably shut me down, but I would say lizards just can't field an effective army as shoot heavy as you're after.
Thanks for the input. I too really don't think that we Lizardmen players can pull of a shooty army but I wanted to give it a shot (pun intended) with a list.
You also have you remember that every time he catches one of your units you can't shoot at them until he wipes that unit, which given that it's 10 skinks he will probably over run into a new unit. If you can stay OUT of combat you can do alot of damage, but that is going to be the key.
This was actualy a popular build style when we had the 6th edition Lizardmen book. You are probaly going to have to concentrate your fire to take out their army one unit at a time, If you have the minitures, I say give it a try.
Instead of 2 Scar-Vet, consider the following: - Old Blood: Armour of Fortune, Dawnstone, Crown of command, GW, Cold One - BSB Scar-Vet: Amour of Destiny either GW or AHW depending on extra S or extra A It means you'll have a little less shooter, but your Cold One bus will be pretty solid now . You can pretty much get this build by dropping the lone razor/sally and maybe another hunting pack.
