Hey guys, trying out some saurus cavalry with a carnosaur. Planing on trying to redirect a huge deathstar unit of ironguts and try get into the flank with the saurus cavalry with a wyssans to hopefully cause a lot of damage. The list is as follows. Any comments would be appriciated! cheers Characters Saurus Oldblood Light armour Charmed shield (to hopefully help against the cannon) Carnosaur Saurus scar-veteran Light armour Spear Enchanted shield Cold-one Skink priest Level 2 Lore of beasts Cloak of feathers (for shits and giggles) Core The saurus will be the mainstay unit that will take the brunt of the damage so i'm thinking maybe they should have the wyssans? 24 Saurus wariors Full command Hand weapons and shields 10 Skink skirmishers Blowpipes 10 Skink skirmishers Blowpipes Special 12 Saurus cavalry Full command I'm hoping this list should work. The only way I can see it not working is if he charges the saurus and they flee. But if I redirect with the skinks right I should be able to hit him with both units and a carny and eat some ogres.
My thoughts 1. You Need a BSB I'd take your one ScarVet on the Cold One and upgrade him to a bsb. Otherwise you are going to fail a bunch of stupidity tests. Another thing you should consider is putting the Skaven Pelt banner on your BSB to give your Saurus Cavalry frenzy and that extra kick they need to punch through enemy lines 2. Magic Defense You might as well swap out the cloak of feathers for a dispel scroll and keep him in a unit of skirmishers.
Thanks dude, makes sense. I only just realised that that banner gives you frenzy against everyone too I thought it was just against skaven for a while.
NP. Yeah it's a common mistake I made to at one point. Just the Skaven in the title makes it sound like it's our "Death to Skaven" item.
It specifically says "all models in the unit" have the frenzy, so I'd say yes. Horses and such in Warrior of Chaos lists used to get frenzy from their upgrades until their new book specified they did not anymore, so there's precedence. That's another 12 attacks you're getting out of the unit (assuming you run 6-wide), which is not too bad value for the points. It does leave the BSB with less defensive gear than I'd like, but maybe the gamble will pay off. At 1500 points, some Ogre generals will use a firebelly as their wizard instead of gut magic, in which case your chaff skirmishers will be cleared away pretty quick. Just something to keep in mind if you're counting on redirecting him.
