Hey all this is the list I am thinking of for my first 8th game. Going up against Dark Elves. A little explanation. Slann will be taking the lore of Life. Terradon riders are there as a fast response unit to deal with fast cav and war machines. Salamanders well they just rock now. Let me know what you think about the list. The scar-vet can join the Chameleons sure enough, the problem is he does not have the Scout special rule so he can not deploy with them. Characters are not deployed at the same time as units. The order goes all your normal units, then your characters are placed after all your normal units are(they may join units at this time). After this you put out scouts. Scout rule pg.79("Deployed after ALL other non-scout units are") He will be put on the table before any scouts are deployed at all, so obviously he can not be put with them during deployment without him having the scout rule himself. Also even when he joins them the scout rule does not say it transfers to the character. The skirmishing rule states it transfers to the character, so he would get that.
Ahh good point thanks, I knew someone would see what I wasn't. What to do with him or the points. I could drop him and either the terradons or chameleons and get a stegadon. I could keep him and change his items put him with the Saurus. Something to think about. Ahh well off to bed.
Give me a page number a page number and I will tell you if I am wrong. But even if he does it doesn't matter if the scar-vet has to deploy first. There would have to be a special note saying that the character gains it for deployment.
I revised the list, what do you guys think should I take the 3 Terradons or drop them for 8 Chameleons?
For purposes of war machine hunting and the like, I think chameleons will serve you well. Now their multiple poison shots will negate the high toughness of the machine and start dropping crew members in a hurry, and their -2 modifier to shooting (plus whatever cover they can find) will help keep them alive long enough to get the job done.
