pretty new at WHFB. been playing for less then a year and this will be my first tourny with my LM. i feel i am an above average player with my LM for the amount of time i have played so far (11wins 1 Loss) but i am worried about my local tourny and would like some feedback on my list i made. ty

    Lord
    Slaan 425
    Loremaster of Life
    Focused rumination (xtra dice)
Divine plaque of protection ( 2+ward against ranged)
    BSB
Cupped Hands (hope to be a game changer since i see throne of vines being dispelled every magic phase)

    Heroes
    Scar-Vet on a Cold one 160pt
dragon helm (+1 to save & 2+ward against flaming)
    sword of striking (+1 hit)
dawn stone (re roll failed armor saves)
    Light armor
This guy has done amazing in all games ive put him in. with a 1+ re-rollable armor save he handles his own really well against taking out Monstrous creatures, Monstrous cav, Monstrous infantry, war-machines, archers and lone characters.

    Skink priest 90pt
    dispell scroll

    Core
    18 Saurus warriors
    17 Saurus warriors

    Special
    20 Temple Guard
    Ironcurse Icon(6+Ward vs war-machines)

    5 Chameleon skinks 60pt
    5 Chameleon skinks 60pt

    Rare
    Salamander 75
    Salamander 75

Well if you've only lost once, I don't think your list needs much help, lol.

You could drop the Plaque of Protection. He already gets a Look Out Sir from the TG, so it's a little unnecessary. With the extra points you could just add some more bodies to the Saurus.

Although this list is a kind of combat heavy push forward list with no skinks, it is obviously effective

I agree as above, prob no need for the divine plaque, the slann has to go in the temple guard and will get a 2+ LoS, so failing in your 2+ ward is more mathematically likely than failing your 2+ LoS and then failing your 4+ ward save.

Also your scar vet is actually an illegal build, he has 60 points of magical items, the sword of striking is 10 points more than you have it down for, because the FaQ states you must use the points cost stated in the lizardmen army book not the BRB. Maybe swap the dragonhelm for the shield, keeps the 1+ AS but loses the flaming ward

The biggest weakness of the list is maybe the inability to deal with high toughness monsters, with only one strength five model, lots of strength 4 attacks and not many real offensive spells, it could be difficult to beat a tough monster or stuff like ogres. The main weapon is probably Dwellers, but if they let you cast that, probably wasted going for a monster not a big unit of infantry.

well thanks to those who gave their advice. I did end up fixing the scar-vets points and took the Divine plaque of protection off the slaan and gave him the bane head. I DID WELL! i took 4th place finishing only one point behind the 2nd and 3rd place guys who tied. First match i actually lost 20-0 to the guy who took 2nd with his nasty WoC. took a 20-0 win against a newer WoC player. and 20-0 tabled a scaven player (Dwellered his bsb, grey seer and half the unit turn one with double 6's). what i mostly was excited about was... I WON BEST PAINTING?! wtf is this im a newb at painting lol but my army was the only army that had everything painted and i will admit it was a damn fine job on my Temple guard. if anyone wants to check out my converted slaan with temple guard ill put picks up tomorrow.

Intriguing, I never would have thought to give a Bane Head to a Slann without the Lore of Death since it's hard to target enemy characters without it.

    It's the old
    Banehead plus cupped hands combo

Try to bump the miscast and kill the Mage in one go by doubling the wounds.

I gave up on DELIBERATELY causing miscasts with Cupped Hands. Every time I deliberately trigger a miscast, I seem to roll a really weeny result on the miscast table (or roll a 1 for Cupped Hands). Then I almost invariably miscast with three dice on my next spell causing something painful to happen.

I find I win more battles when I play with Cupped Hands as insurance, not with Cupped Hands as a weapon, but if the dice gods are on your side, stay the course.

bane head is a magic item in the LM book. you pick an enemy charachter (normally their lvl 4) and the lsaan does double wounds to that model. amazing with death from what is said above but in the FAQ it also works with cupped hands. for example if they take a strength 10 and do not save it it turn into 2 wounds which kills alot of wizards

ok guys here is a couple pics. i will have more on another page on the paints and conversion section. note: i did not paint the saurus warriors or skink they where already painted when i got them. i am going with a lava style LM theme. before you critisize my painting I am new and theses are only things ive ever painted. what help me win best painted is first off i was one of 3 people who had a fully painted army and because of the uniqe style i guess. and yes my slaan has a plate with cheese on it :p
