played a nice game against HE today, the scenario was Watchtower.
my skink priest had Uranon's thunderbolt, chain lightning and iceshard blizzard. the elf had regrowth and shield of thorns
I was lucky to place my skink skirmishers and L2 priest on the tower. also placed 1 sallie left, 1 right, 29 saurus with lord in the middle and chameleons near HE balista.
HE had the following (from his viewpoint) balista left, unit of seaguard+lord, phoenix guard+L2 mage in the middle, eagle right.
as I deployed in the tower, HE had 1st turn. he moved the ph.guard forward, the eagle towards the tower and he shot the chameleons with seaguard+lord, killed only 2 (although lord had BS6), but the chams panicked and fled off table :(. balista shot saurus, killed 1. he tried to cast thorns on guard, but was dispelled.
lizards turn1: all marched forward, except the tower crew. chain lightning was dispelled, but thunderbolt killed some seaguard. skink shooting from tower killed 1 ph.guard. 1 sallie shot eagle but didn't wound.
HE turn2: moved ph.guard forward, reformed seaguard to face saurus and moved forward. balista shot salamander, got 2 handlers down. seaguard shot saurus, killed 2. eagle moved to saurus flank, march blocking it and 1 sallie. cast thorns on eagle, cast regrowth on ph.guard - was dispelled.
lizards turn2: saurus couldn't march, as didn't pass LD test, so only moved. both salies marched, chain lightning killed some seaguard, ph.guard was saved by ward save. put iceshard on ph.guard. skink shooting killed 2 ph.guard. 1 sallie killed 2 ph.guard and 4 seaguard, other sallie eat 1 handler.
HE turn3: eagle charged saurus flank, ph.guard marched preparing to charge, seaguard marched, regrowth brought some ph.guard back. balista shot sallie, killed 1 handler. eagle killed 1 saurus and got 1 wound.
lizards turn3: sallie charged balista, the other moved. chain lightning was dispelled, thunderbolt killed some seaguard. skink fire brought 1 ph.guard down (damn ward save). left sallie eat a skink snack. eagle killed 1 saurus, they scored no wounds on the eagle. right sallie smashed the balista and reformed.
HE turn 4: ph.guard and seaguard charged saurus. thorns came on the HE general, regrowth brought some ph.guard back. HE general challenged the big lizard, but was surprised, when he found out the reptile has ASF as well :) he didn't wound, but received 1 wound (from 5 attacks, nah....) fighting went on, the lizards won, as they took several hits, but also killed enough elves and had more ranks. elves held (general LD=10)
roll on end game=2 - fight continues
lizards turn 4: 1 sallie charged seaguard rear, other sallie moved in for the charge. dispelled the thorns from 2 HE models, iceshard was dispelled. challenge continued, HE lord got 1 wound, saurus lord got 1. finally killed the eagle. lizards won combat, as kills/wound were close and lizards had more ranks. HE failed LD test, broke and were trampled to dust. :) tadaaa, a BIG victory for the lizards :)

    learnings:
always take the ASF sword against HE. models strike simultaneously and no hit re-roll for the pointy ears. can also be a big surprise for them - in your face, hehe...
salamanders are just awesome. I recommend to have several units of 1, rather than 1 unit of 2-3. gives a lot more flexibility.
dispel remains in play spells early - the thorns brought down some lizards, but actually I was surprised how few, considering the number of hits he always rolled on the 2D6. nevertheless, they could have been saved.
if not possible to place them better, don't be afraid to put the chameleons in front of some opponent's shooting (well, not completely, make him to move at least once to be able to shoot at them) - I was surprised how good they survived the shooting (a pity that they didn't make the panic test) - but they drew fire, which is good.
have at least 20 saurus in a unit. (I think 29+hero/lord is best - proved in several games, against HE and O&G).
the plaque of tepok is a good item, worth the points. it helps a lot to get at least 1 good offensive spell.
