Hello all. Here's my attempt at a reasonable sized list to start playing. Let me know what you guys think.

    - Skink Priet
General, Level 2, Ancient Steg, Burning Blade of Chotec, Dispel Scroll

    - Saurus Warriors x15
    Full command

    - Skink Skirmishers x10

    - Salamander x1

    - Cold One Cavalry x5
    Full command

    Too cheesy??

Depends on what you are facing.

The Salamander is not worth it at this level in my opinion as there isn't much to hit. A big block army where you hit even if you overshoot/undershoot is where I see the value. I'd personally drop that and the Champs from the CoC and Saurus and try to get Terradons in.

At this point level, the dropping rocks attack can take out a quarter of someone else's army if you choose the right target.

    Just my 2 cents

I agree with Arsenal. Terradons are incredibly useful in low point games (check out my battle report on how well they did at 1500 pts). Other than that your list looks good, the CoR may be easy points for your opponent at this point level, but they also can be incredibly effective.

Stupidity at this level can be a HUGE liability due to the fact of the open playing field and you can't protect them. One failed check can cause your demise. But, like Xlcontqu states, if you can get them around the side and roll up a flank, you win hands down.

You can also go a little magic 'lighter' and go to a lv1 priest, drop the scroll for diadem. At this level your steg's impacts should clear out most comers before the combat starts. If you are in tourney, depending on your foe, you should have enough magic defense to stop them, and make up some points for a bigger army.

I would also drop the blade. You don't want the Priest in combat, and you only want that if you charge. You'd be better off with the shooty staff to clear out guys trying to get behind or flank you, but honestly I would leave him free of items save the diadem.

The one thing I do that is different, but it's a personal choice, is to run my Saurus in units of 18, which is 3 ranks of 6. This gives you the few extra attacks needed to the front to break the enemy when it's a close match, and it also gives you the benefit of having a safety net of one guy for shooting casualties per rank.

If you went to 18 you could probably get a champ in there, and a musician at the very least.

You goal would be to take a charge with the Saurus, flank/counter with the CoC and if it's dire, throw the steg at them for impact hits. However, the steg and CoC should really never go it alone against anything with ranks and full command in my opinion.

I like the list, though I prefer to run two units of 12 spear saurus, 6 wide, but your list looks very good. Really now it is just personal preference. You have a good mix of units and I think the list has so great potential. Just be careful with Stupidity on the Cold Ones.
