Been gone for quite some time, but I am going to fix that by going to a small tourney and see if I can get a relearning game beforehand. Here is what I am thinking, I have two lists to show, let me know thoughts. The two are only slightly different. Scar Vet -Cold One, Great Weapon, Light Armor, Dragonhelm Skink Priest -Lore of Beasts, Ring of Ruin 30 x Saurus Warriors -Full Command 10 x Skink Skirmishers -Javelins and shields Skink Cohort x 12 -Kroxigor Salamander -Extra Handler Salamander -Extra Handler 6 x Chameleon Skinks *Nothing crazy, I figure the skink cohort with the single Krox could deal with a chaff unit or two if need be. But the General has good armor, but no ward save. Magic User is lvl 1, beast for a possible boost and the ruby ring for some fire threat. Should I go dispel scroll instead? Find the points to make him level 2? Big block of Saurus is scary I think at these point levels. Double sally threat for the nice possibility of double flame template, only problem is I hate that they cannot march and shoot anymore. 996 points OR Scar Vet -Cold One, Great Weapon, Light Armor, Armor of Destiny Skink Priest -Lore of Beasts, Ring of Ruin 30 x Saurus Warriors -Full Command 10 x Skink Skirmishers -Javelins and shields Salamander -Extra Handler Salamander -Extra Handler 6 x Chameleon Skinks 6 x Chameleon Skinks 998 points *General has good armor, and a nice ward save. Big block of Saurus is scary I think at these point levels. Double sally threat for the nice possibility of double flame template, only problem is I hate that they cannot march and shoot anymore. Double chameleons, which I think at this point level could be nasty because I think I can get into a an enemy's deployment zone and snag a war machine or a lone character if they make the mistake. I seem to favor the second list... Thoughts and suggestions?
I like the second list also; as the skrox unit isn't really good for much the camo skinks should also have almost free range on a standard table at the small points. The general is a little weak in the first list as well I usually run a 1+/ward or a 1+ re-rollable. To make him more versatile you could give him a magic weapon with dragon helm and dawnstone. Some might argue that you could do skirmishers instead of chameleons for less points, but you really need to try and neutralize warmachines for you solo cowboy and get him into cobat as quickly as possible. A charmed shield is popular to know away that first cannonball.
Second army list is what I went with, and it did the job. Went 3 for 3 at the tourney, won overall and got a good little store credit, helped me pick up a Bastiladon. Saurus with Wyssan's Wildform ate up Ogres, nasty nasty.
