Okay, so, first attempt at writing any type of Lizzies list, but here goes
Saurus Oldblood w/ shield, light armour, Armour of Destiny and Warrior Bane
    216 points of Lords
Skink Priest Lvl 2, lore of heavens (or beasts, depends on army I'm facing) w/ Plaque of Topek
    115 points of Heroes
2 units of 18 Saurus Warriors w/ hand weapons, Spawning Champion, musician and standard bearer
3 units of 10 Skink Skirmishers w/ blowpipes
    666 points of Core
    Total of 997 points
    Any thoughts on the list?

Which Lizardmen book are you using? Plaque of Tepok is gone from the new book, unfortunately for us.

Oldblood - He can't wear light armor in addition to Armor of Destiny... that should save you some points on light armor. Also, if you are just wanting a cheap magic weapon, the lowest I'd go is probably the biting blade. That way at least he'll be at strength 5 armor piercing. If you want him more reliable, upgrade to the Sword of Striking and he will hit most things on a 2+. Removing the cost of light armor and replacing the warrior bane with the sword of striking should leave you at the same point value.

Skink Priest Lvl 2 - In 8th edition, you are technically supposed to write which lore your mages are taking on the army list itself. In a friendly game, no one will care of course, but if you go to play at the LGS or a tournament people will want you to write your lore on your army list (a change from 7th to 8th).

That said, since you are going with a combat list, you'll probably want to take Beasts, since you are always guaranteed one really good combat buff in Wyssan's Wildform.

Also, in a 1000 point game you only need 250 points in Core, so you could really add some diversity to your army by adding some specials and rares. But if you are just running with what you have, give things a shot and see how it goes.

I was using 7th as I don't currently have the 8th edition book, so that's screwed me over -.-
And I never realised about light and magic armours, in my other armies (Skaven, High Elves & Beastmen) I've never bothered taking magic items, just threw more points into core
I think I'll run with the Sword of Striking though, sounds more fun
I'm not a tournament player myself, and generally at my club we randomly generate lores once everything's been deployed (makes it more fun and random)
And I contemplated bringing Temple Guard, but I want to try out my Skinks and Saurus and see how well they do
    Thanks though :)
