Hello all: Long time WHFB player, first time Lizardmen player. Just picked up a gorgeous Lizardmen army and wanted to throw an army list together and see how it'd work. Idea behind this would be for general play, not ultra competitive or picking on someone in particular. Any feedback is appreciated! Slaan: Channeling Staff Focus of Mystery Soul of Stone Becalming Cogitation Harmonic Convergence Skink Priest Dispel Scroll Skink Chief Terradon Spear, Light Armor, Shield Sacred Stegadon Helm Scar Vet Coldone, GW, LA, Sh Dawnstone 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 30 Saurus Warriors, FC, Spears 30 Temple Guard, FC, Std of Discipline 3 Terradon Riders 5 Chameleon Skinks Salamander Salamander Ancient Stegadon
Glad to see you are playing som lizards, I have really been enjoying your skaven reports, hopefully we will see som lizards on your channel soon? In regards to your list, it looks pretty solid for a fun, all round list that can still do good stuff. For tweaking I would look at the following: Sauraus aren't very good and you'd probably be better of with more skinks. I1 and the low ws really hurts, and even though they can beat alot of core infantry they fold to most elite infantry . Getting cohorts for mini bunkers and banners or skirmishers for awesomeness and more of the poison, redirecting and fleeing goodness would probably be better. Scar Vet AKA Cowboy: Probably the best point for point model/unit in the book, so if you could squeeze in one more I would. I like running the exact skink chief build you have, but is it needed when you allready have Chamoes and Terradons? - I'd consider an extra cowboy, for inspiration check out: http://www.lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12879 Everything else is looking grand. Keep on putting out videos and I hope you will enjoy the cold blooded army! /Jacob Ps. English is not my first language, so bear with me
Thanks, Jake! Ran my first army with it last night, battle report being rendered as we speak From my Skaven army, I'm a huge lover of chaff -- so I generally have an overabundance of it. I viewed the Chief as not just a war machine hunter, but also someone who could go assassinate mages or other such fun stuff. I like the toolbox aspect of him. I do think that I'll tweak it some before my next game, but... we'll see =)
Also you are packing High Magic so watchout for those miscasts. Slann is prob the number one saurus killer in the whole game. Really makes you laugh and sad when you see 15 templeguard blow up to smithereens. When doing big spells, id suggest you insert your slann into skink bunkers or skirmishers. Blowing up skinks dont hurt so much.
Good point with the Slann and the TG. Easy (sorta) fix is placing him in the side of the unit unutill combat ensues. I also have fallen out of love with high magic, the ability to switch spells is awesome on paper, but getting it to work is difficult. I prefer wandering deliberations + Tetto'Ekko (who is insanely good). Also defenitely go jav/shield on the skirmishers I was amazed to see the Saurus lasting a round against the GutStar, tempest onviously helped but I hadn't thought they would dish out like they did. Maybe it's time I try out 18 to support the TG's. If I do run two "blocks" I would bring in the bastiladon for the +1I and the sweet bound spell. Keep us posted on how you tweak your list. /jacob Ps. Did I miss all your shooting with the skinks? Mine normally cause alot of wounds, but yours didn't seem to do much for some reason.
I really never see anyone suggest lore of life for the slann. I run my lore of life on my slann in a block of TG w/ an old blood 2 blocks of saurus w/ spears and shields a lvl2 beast priest on eotg ancient steg trog 2 units of chameleons I've had great success with this list. Yes the saurus are slow but with a buff they're just as mean as chaos warriors. Just a suggestion, I see a lot of people toss out saurus and TG without much thought.
Dangit Chris! Encroachin' in on my territory! /sarcasm Welcome to the forum, enjoy the colder side of things.
