Because when I saw his nickname, Tet Offensive immediately came to mind. As Tetto'eko is one of the few models I have (recap: FLGS went out of biz, closing sale got me Tet, skink priest x2, oldblood on foot) I thought to try some cool lizards and viola! So here it is, my 2,400 Tet Offensive.

    LORD
Saurus Oldblood on Carnasaur w/swiftstride, GW, charm shield great looking model, I want one
Saurus Oldblood w/glittering scales, GW, Stegadon Helm, Dawnstone Army General

    HEROS
    Skink Priest w/dispel scroll
    Skink Priest w/cube of darkness
    Totto-Eko

    CORE
    Saurus Warriors, champ, standard x20
Skink Cohort w standard & two Kroxigor x24 When I think lizardmen, this is what I think of
    Skink Skirmisher w/blowpipe x10
    Skink Skirmisher w/javelin x10
    Skink Skirmisher w/javelin x10

    SPECIAL
Bastiladon w/UG to Solar Engine cool model
    Temple Guard x10
    Terradon Riders x03

    RARE
Ancient Stegadon w/EotG & sharpened horns classic lizards again for me
    Salamander & handlers
    Salamander & handlers

The salamanders are the only unit I'm really up in the air about, and if need be I could easily drop them for a small shuffle of points to get a second Terradon unit.

My big questions are really, who hides in what unit? I was thinking Tet following behind the warriors and the OB on foot in with the TG. Do I hide the skink priests in with the skirmishers or have them follow behind as well/clump near Tet?

This little pollywog needs to get in the sun and grow, help me Old Ones, your my only hope.

I'd bunker Tetto in a Skink Cohort. Priests with the Skirmishers. The Oldblood on foot would probably work well in the Temple Guard. Don't drop the Salamanders! They're fantastic at softening up large blocks of enemy infantry. As Qupakoco put it, "Salamanders eat hordes for lunch! They also eat skinks sometimes, but that's besides the point."

What Lore are your Priests using? I'm assuming Beasts, since you've already got Heavens covered?

I don't have time right this minute for a thorough critique, but the list looks pretty good overall. I'll see if I can come back later with more suggestions.

You should try to fit in a battle standard bearer.

As for salamanders, I have no luck with these buggers what so ever. :)

Against elves and other models with small footprint they can be good. However, if you meet savage orcs for an example and hit 15 of them with the flame. You wound them on 4+ that leaves you with 7-8 wounds. Then assuming they have shrunken head which gives a 5++ ward, they save 2-3 wounds. You kill 4-6 of them. I don't think that is very good.
So as always, depends on the situation.

I like them tho but they are always hungry for my skink handlers...

Does Tetto displace any of the kroxigor, or does he sit in the front rank? And I had seen many folks say to put priests in the skimirshers, but I was worried they would slow them down. As for lore, I am just reading up on them, having mentally assigned one of the priests to Beasts because I saw that mentioned a lot and was considering Light for the other, or should they both dip Beasts?

As for things like the Savage Orcs, they should be getting hit with other things as well yes? If (tough unit X) is hit by the salamanders, and perhaps some skimishers as well, before charged (hopefully) by a brick, then the 4-6 + 2-3 of the skinks has cut them down nicely already.

I also see in a few threads that skinks with poison do well, but the threads often make it sound like these are skimisher skinks and I'm not seeing a poison option for them. Is there some creature or magic item set I'm missing that gives skimishers poison, because I'll take it!

And any suggestions for magical battle standard? or just take a plain one (for a scenario I gather)?

@Rainbow: Check the special rule for Blowpipes and Javelins! In our Army Special rules on page 30 it mentions that those weapons have Poisoned Attacks.

Also Skink Priests can only take the Lore of Beasts and Heavens.

    Tetto displaces Kroxigor if necessary.

Lustrian Javelins and Blowpipes both have the Poisoned Attacks special rule, see Page 30 of the Army Rulebook.

Every unit within 12" of your Battle Standard Bearer rerolls failed Leadership tests. A BSB is worth taking even if you don't give him a Magic Standard. ;)

It is my friends book I browse when I am over there, I don't currently own it - why I'm shy on some rules like the poison for blowpipe/javelin.

@Lindel, if my skinks are 7 across with the Kroxigor in second rank with one row between them (is that legal or do they have to be next to eachother?), would Tet move a Kroxigor to the side, thus moving the skinks further back in ranks, or put the kroxigor in the way-back row? Here is how I have them set up, skinks=0, kroxigore=kk, Tetto'eko=TT.
    kk TT

    0000000
    0kk0kk0
    0kk0kk0
    0000000
    0000

    Or would it move them

    0000000
    kkTTkk0
    kkTTkk0
    0000000
    0000000
    0

    Or like:

    0000000
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0000
    0kk0000
    0

? Or should I just change the front rank to accompany having all three in the second rank

    00000000
    0kkTTkk0
    0kkTTkk0
    00000000
    0000

As for the BSB, +25 seems good for a 12" re-roll bubble, as I understand that most our stuff stays near a centered area, minus warmachine hunters. But how does it compete with Cold Blooded? If it is redundancy, that is fine (tyranids are all about that), or could I just rely on the CB?

Lastly, for the priests, if Tet has heavens covered, they I guess both priests would be going beast :p

There's no rule stating that Krox need to be next to each other, only that they have to be placed in the second rank. Tetto must also be placed in the second rank, displacing Skinks and/or Kroxigor models as necessary. The only illegal configuration there is the third:

    0000000
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0000
    0kk0000
    0

Because the Kroxigor in the back rank would be able to fit in the second, and so must be placed there. Other than that, it's up to you.

On the subject of the Leadership, Cold Blooded certainly helps. But if one of your units fails combat, it'll be taking a penalty to its Leadership and lessening your chances of passing even with CB. Additionally, if any of your Skinks are outside your General's Inspiring Presence, Ld6 isn't great even with CB. For my 1500 list I'm not worrying about a BSB for the moment, but at 2400 it becomes more of a concern, and easier to spare the point.

I figured for the Priests, but I thought I'd ask. ;)

Kroxigors Must be in the second rank,
and not further back, you have to form up wider
    instead of deeper.

Would the unit become illegal if no kroxigor died but more skinks did, thus reducing the front rank by a significant amount? Would a second rank of kroxigor, Tet, kroxigor be auto-routed if say the skinks fell to like a total of four, all in the front rank? That would be a sight unto itself :p

I'll rework points for the BSB as I go up in points, ty @Lindel.

When there are not enough Skinks to make up the front rank, Kroxigor (and/or Tetto) move up to the front to fill it out. Same thing happens to a Slann in a unit of Temple Guard. When there are 4 TG left, the Slann pops into the front rank.

Krox must be placed in the second rank if able, however, Tetto (and extra Kroxigor) can bump them to subsequent ranks, as shown in Crillaz's post. So, this, which places as many Kroxigor in the second rank as space allows, is legal:

    000000
    KKTTKK
    KKTTKK
    00KK00
    00KK00

    While this is not:

    0000000
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0TT0
    0kk0000
    0kk0000
    0

Because there is sufficient space to place the last Kroxigor into the second rank by displacing any four Skinks. A unit need not be reformed to allow all Kroxigor into the second rank, it's only required that as many Kroxigor are placed there as the current formation allows, while any "leftovers" are displaced to subsequent ranks. So you were right in pointing out this,
But this is no longer true as of the new army book:
Is that what you were wondering?

"Krox must be placed in the second rank if able"

Ah, yep they changed it, didn't used to say if able. :D

"Would the unit become illegal if no kroxigor died but more skinks did, thus reducing the front rank by a significant amount? Would a second rank of kroxigor, Tet, kroxigor be auto-routed if say the skinks fell to like a total of four, all in the front rank? That would be a sight unto itself "

if enough skinks die the kroxigor move forward to replace them.

    like this...

    s = skink

    x = dead skink

    KK = krox
    KK

    So if 2 skinks die...
    ssxx
    KKKK
    KKKK

    one krox would move forward
    ssKK
    KKKK
    KK

Great stuff, thanks oh wise lizards of spawnings before me! I got my friends book swapped for a few weeks so I'll catch up on everything I can. It's not the newest hardcover, but it should do me well. Thanks for all the responses and quirks for kroxigor, skinks and lil'ol Tet.

The rules/points between the last softcover book and the new hardcover book are subtly, but importantly, different.
