not really. Having played now some 5+ games with solo slann, I like it more than standard TGSlann list.
I tried solo slaan too, but as a different role. I gave him the crown of command, higher state of consciousness, and then ran him into a 30-man unit of white lions... who could donothing about him for 3 turns until a unit of saurus wiped the table with them. I'm not sure how you're using your guy, though.
I've tried slann with crown and ethereal. It's good vs some armies. But I like to have mine with 2+ ranged ward, cause I am bad at rolling 4+ ward vs cannonballz etc. Btw, Played test game vs empire, got butraepd. Didnt get his artillery killed soon enough, which limited my vets movement (hide behind a house for 4 turns..) Gonna have second game next week. I'm going to drop some saurus warriors and take second unit of skinks, I would have needed that a lot today.
There isn't much in the way of variety in the list, aren't you tempted by a Steg/Skink Krox etc. for more variety to deal with things? With Light Magic I would swap the GW for a Halberd on the other Scar Vet so you can benefit from Light magic more. I also like the Charme shield and Amulet of Iztul (2+ ward vs first wound) so you can pop out for one turn against Cannons etc. and then get into combat.
GW is for S7. I am not sold on skrox unit yet. IMO its too depending on magic buffs, while saurus warriors arent. Oh well, maybe i'm gonna give them another try. edit: hmm, skrox could actually do pretty well against empire because Kroxies S6. Might take them to the tournament as well should they perform ok.
I get the GW being Strength 7 but does it make much difference most of the time? What are you thinking you need ST 7 for? With other Lores I would go great weapons because it doesn't make much difference with I3 but with potentially I10 and maybe ASF having ASL makes a much bigger difference.
Being S7 with a character (especialy in a frenzied unit!) makes al the differennce against monsters and the like. Usualy if I took a character like that I would give him good armor/ ward saves, or stick him on a cold one. Has anyone tried taking a charcter with the Gold Sigil Sword (I10) or Sword of the Hornet yet? I think it would be some good redundancy in case you can't make the timewarp/speed of light.
Played agaisnt same empire with little changes (he had mortar instead of lvl1, I had stega instead of 20sh saurus warriors) I lost by 1000pts due some extremely bad luck on my part (dawn attack, so my deployment didint went as I planned). But overral game went better than before and wasnt such a buttraep as it was last time. Definatelly taking stega to my final list, it aint so bad as I thought. next game on saturday, going to be daemons, bretts or delves. edit: also, I made few mistakes, didnt charge the 5sh swordmen with sallies instead of firing, and timewarped saurus warriors could have actually killed the waltar and broke the pope.. oh well, better playing next time

Tournament is over, I went 6-4 (ogres). 7-3( more than nice empire). 0-10 (WoC), 6-4 (Tomb Kings) and 6-4 (dark elves). Max 50 pts from battles, max. 30 pts from painting and fluff. I've got (IIRC) 39 total, 14pts from painting (Had I sent some hur dur fluff I'd have had 5pts more. Maybe next time!) 4 wins and 1 lose, cant complain! I'll write a small report tomorrow about the games.
